Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 3 April 2016

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Chat thread is here. Check back, because there were a lot of new, long posts at the end of the thread.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

  • Annette - Hi to you too!  Hope you enjoyed "Shetland" - I have been enjoying the re-runs of the first 2 series on Drama Channel. Have a good time with your sister and BiL - you have been looking forward to it for some time, but unfortunately before you know where you are you'll be wondering where the time went!! That's the problem with having close relatives across the Big Pond or Down Under as in my case!

Diane - enjoying your squirrel yarns - glad to hear you are educating them properly with the BBC! Sorry your weather is so changeable currently.

  • Good Morning from me. My OH was already up, looking tired when I got up this morning - he'd been woken by Bonnie at 5.30am! It's dry here, so we've decided to stay until after lunch which gives us chance to go for a walk this morning.

{BIG HUGS} to Margo, OG, and anyone else feeling under the weather.

  • LINDY- A squirrel called Cyril?

  • A rather late Good Morning from me.

Margo is still not over her cold. I will post part of an e-mail sent by her this morning.

  • .From Margo.......
Just to let you know that after we spoke last week things started to go downhill a bit. Spent most of the weekend back in bed feeling so ill. Phoned specialist cancer nurse first thing Monday and they called me in. Spent most of the day there having various tests and then having a transfusion because HB had dropped. The cold is slowly going but cough is very stubborn and repeated bouts of coughing are wearing me out. No chest infection as they checked  again yesterday so that is a relief. Doctor explained that for me just a cold is going to drag me down. Back to the hospital again this morning for yet another blood test so Consultant can see results after transfusion. My transfusion was originally for this coming Friday and I may need a platelet transfusion, will know about that tomorrow after seeing the Consultant. Specialist nurse thinks that transfusions may be needed every fortnight and again Consultant will probably discuss this with us.

......Not keeping up very well with all things osprey which is a measure of how poorly I feel.

  • Thanks Brenda.

We're just packing, now, so only time to say take care of yourselves, All.

  • Safe journey home, LINDY.

MARGO - Thinking about you, as always x

Lovely day (apart from the weather) in Elgin, yesterday. Four granddaughters aged from 6 to 14 enjoyed time together, and lunch was fine. We had a table for 8 in the restaurant and I was quite bemused to see folk coming in and asking to be seated in places well away from us, presumably in case we made a noise? I can honestly say that my family are very quiet and well behaved in restaurants, unlike some Hooray Henrys without any accompanying children that I have come across over the years. These people speak in very loud voices, we know all about what they are doing or plan to do and there is usually quite a lot of name dropping or place name dropping. You get the picture....

  • Morning all:  Slow day in terms of whale sightings during my shift yesterday (two pokey juveniles plodding their way north without much display). The big excitement (sort of) was that the local TV station showed up to film us and I ended up on the local news last night.  Funny thing, about three weeks ago I was on my shift and the local National Public Radio station called to talk about the Count and Mike (head whale honcho) had them talk to me then as well.  That's the fourth time I've been on tele here - but as I tell everyone, it's a small town and if you just stand around long enough, someone will rush up and interview you about something. I do think I'm rapidly approaching my 15-minute allotment of fame though.  :-)

LizLFW: I did enjoy Shetland. UK crime dramas, especially those set outside London, are so low-key and so un-American in terms of slickness that I find them refreshing and rather relaxing!  I was a bit afraid the accents would be really thick, but had no trouble, although my OH poked his head round the door at one point and said he'd probably need an interpreter.

Heather/Lindybird: A squirrel named Cyril? I like it.  I thought of "quibble" but it's not that good a match - in fact there aren't that many out there.  Oh dear, I'm one of the people who'd look at a table of 8 with four kiddies and probably ask to be seated at a distance. Then again, you can get a table for two where only one person can be a noisy pest. Sadly, I have one friend with a rather shrill voice (don't see her often) and I find the louder she talks the quieter I get as a way to offset things. :-(

Lindybird: Oh that Bonnie!  When is she getting "fixed"? Seems you and OH were thinking she might calm down then. Hope you had a good drive home.

Brenda: Thanks for news from Margo. Not happy to hear that she's still feeling so rotten but it's good to know her team is really on the ball and taking good care of her.

Off to sort out the world!
