THE LOCH GARTEN OSPREY GABFEST FOR APRIL, 2016

  • Hello, Ann and Lmac, and any readers.    on Facebook I see that EJ laid her first egg soon after 8:00 PM two days ago on April 7th.

  • 8:13 and still light at Loch Gartem?  Seems so, if the Carnyx cam is truly live as it seems to be.  EJ is sitting quietly on the cup just turning her head occasionally.

  • Hi June, As far north as Loch Garten is gives more hours of daylight in the summer, hence more time to go fishing than for those nesting farther south.

    Kind regards, Ann

  • Good evening all. It seems that 03(97) Mr Rutland may not return, a bit worrying. Still time though. Good news too that 51(11) has returned as have many now at Rutland. 51(11) last year i think was one of the persistent intruders at site B when 03(97) almost lost his nest.

  • From Facebook (RSPB Operation Osprey)  I get the news that EJ has laid her second egg - - 6:30pm 4-10-16, Sunday.

  • I am at home with my new laptop partially set up.  I haven't yet been able to access my email and of course I have to get used to this new system on windows 10.

  • EJ is on her nest, chirping and looking about as if following something. She stood up and we had a good view of her two eggs.

  • I'm slowly finding my way around this new laptop. I located the snipping tool and have pasted it too my task bar.  Now to locate where on this computer the picture I took of EJ is.

  • JUNE - Eggs starting to be laid all over now.

Today started off with the first egg at Loch of the Lowes followed by the first egg at Lake District Osprey Project.

I think Manton Bay leads the way with 3 eggs of the followed nests.

58WILLOW - I understand that both 03(97) and the female at Nest B have not returned. However I imagine it has a good postcode and some of the unattached males may take over and attract a female. Someone posted that Blue 24 should take a trip back to her Grandfathers nest.

Off to the Loire Valley at the weekend.
