Keith and Ann closed last month with some lovely chat and osprey news. It is this kind of coverage that we must have if The Gabfest is to be able to continue.
The Gabfest does have a purpose - a reason for being. That purpose is to educate about wildlife in general and ospreys in particular. We do that by following the osprey we care about with pictures and narrative, and by entertaining ourselves with other topics of interest to us. If we are interested others probably will be also. They will thus be drawn to our site where they will get to know the osprey we love.
Pictures are not necessary to make an interesting post. I was hooked before I ever saw a cam simply by reading the entries on The Main Blog. They did not use pictures then. Through the years many Gabbers have added to our thread with simple observations and comments.. The posts of one Gabber in particular are greatly missed. SUGAR'S early morning observations of the Loch Garten nest were a joy to read.
It is to be hoped that we can have many reports, comments and observations this summer, both with and without pictures, as we enjoy the antics of our favorite osprey.
I hope Keith and the ospreys find more of interest in the Galicia, Spain area than I did when I streetwalked there this evening.
The top picture is not streetwalk, but low altitude closeup.
EJ greets the new day. She checks the eggs beneath her, then continues fumbling about. This in the most restless I have seen her in some time.
Good morning all. I was unaware of Dai Dots injury :( Couldnt get onto the blog for some reason! I hope hes going to be OK :(
Such is the life of ospreys :(
Poor EJ looks like she has a white duvet on her back
58 Willow - Emyr thinks that the injury to his wing may have caused him to loose his nest to this unknown male.
Dai Dot and Delyth were certainly incubating and it is thought this new male has booted the eggs out of the nest and is now mating with Delyth.
Dai went onto the Dyfi estuary and his presence got Blue 24 off her nest and eggs and away with Dai Dot with Monty chasing them out.

Tomorrow - Off to the Abegondo Cecebre Reservoir near to La Corunna and Ferrol where I am working.
It is a great place for watching birds and just maybe see an osprey on the reservoir - BLUE PVO the male osprey ringed in July 2015 at Tweed Valley.
WHITE 14 journey from Switzerland back home in the UK.
Last download in Lincolnshire.

Excellent news, Keith, and I've only just read it on another thread! Hope he turned up at home today!
Kind regards, Ann
Looks like more streetwalking in my near future, as I check out the locations Keith mentioned above. Hope you find your osprey, Keith.
SO! Dai Dot and Blue 24 were chased away together by Monty. This fairy tale just may work out after all. Am I correct in thinking that Dai Dot is not ringed? certainly not tagged. Thus the confusion as to whether or not he was the one at a certain nest and my concern now is that he will be more difficult to ID if he and Blue 24 should show up Maybe at different times. at another more distant nest. But then, Dai Dot's facial features are more distinctive than most, I believe which helps with his ID
.Also I think this osprey tale might be better classified as a romance novel (maybe even a Blaze Romance) than a fairy tale. :)
