HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat Thread is here.
In the U.S., we change to Daylight Saving Time tonight. I shared this link on my Facebook page, and I thought I'd include it here. This is Shades State Park (Forest), which is just down the road from me. My grandfather was a park ranger there for many years. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I'm so ready for spring weather.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
Done one hour in garden - OH rolled grass as planned then loaded car and gone to tip. I made first sowings of salad leaves, radishes and carrots and then cleared mosses off tops of Alstroemeria (?sp)pots and dressed them with feed and compost. Now come in to put next load of towels in to wash.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
I'm trying to get some ironing done but for some reason I'm finding I'm being distracted by a normal, everyday thing like an empty nest. Can't imagine why that is!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Oh, CLARE! I think you have a while to wait yet - just get the ironing done while you can! I have been out in the garden again, tidying alpine troughs this time, and OH has done the back grass. Trouble is, I also fetched laundry in - so now I also have ironing to do!
FOR DIBNLIB from BBC News Scotland Live WARNING:
"Two dogs seriously ill after eating rubbish that was dumped and set alight.
Jeanette Thompson's pets Ellie and Jake have been receiving treatment for poisoning after their trip to Roseisle, near Burghhead, on Sunday, a popular Moray beauty spot.
She has alerted the landowners Forestry Commission Scotland to the incident, who have informed Police Scotland and has begun work to clear away the rubbish."
Blimey, OG. Have you messaged her?
What an awful thing to happen, especially in a beautiful place like Burghead.
OG thanks for that warning. Not an area we go to, but you never know!!!
Trip to Mum is over and was uneventful. We did notice a deterioration in that she seemed not to recognise the name when we mentioned my Godmother. This is a first as Jean has been a friend of hers since physio training days and they came up to Scotland together over 60 years ago. I did put her on the phone to Jean and they did seem to have a reasonable conversation. She also went into a real sulk when her carer put her supper in front of her and this is also a new thing!!!!
The trip down was in glorious sunshine and the same for our return. I had to laugh at Bruar. The Ladies loos were being renovated so they had bought in portoloos. Only Briar could have temporary loos that are better than a lot of permanent toilets. People who know this exclusive shopping complex will know what I mean. We had a lovely sighting of the 3 bridges in part fog this morning. I joked with OH that the new bridge looked like 3 Marie Celestes!!!! It is due to open at the end of the year and will be quite something. We met up with schoolfriend and her OH at Loch Leven Larder and had a very enjoyable 2 1/2 hours before continuing our journey. So pleased her OH made it as well as he is a really lovely chap. We had coffee and a shared salad (parma ham, pear and walnut, ginger and leaves with a lovely dressing) at MC., collected Benson and home.
Hear some of you have been in the wars, wishing you well
Dibnlib - looks like I have overdone it a bit - just forwarded on Facebook to you both as well as email. Just wasn't sure whether to go that far down the coast!
DIBNLIB - sorry your Mum's condition is visibly worsening - but unfortunately that is the way it goes. Glad you managed the trip to see her. Pleased you had a good meet-up at Loch Leven with your friend and her OH - really like Loch Leven's Larder ourselves, but usually end up buying stuff! Imagining the luxury loos at Bruar!
Dibnlib, Sorry about your your Mum's condition. I know it is upsetting for you, but you must be glad that you have seen her. So pleased that your friend and her OH were able to meet you.
OG, You really have been busy today. I see that D & G had the highest temperatures today.
Good morning. Cloud cover today, but still bright and very warm. Chiropodist appointment this afternoon, so gardening first and late showers after lunch. I won't garden as long as OH, but he has some single-handed jobs lined up (and I'll probably have to come in and start tackling the ironing, which dried beautifully outside yesterday)! Right now he is getting compost out from bottom of one of the three bins, ready for some containers, so I have been getting done as much dinner preparation as I can at this stage.
