The purpose of this thread is to record observations, activity and captures of Rutland’s Manton Bay nest throughout the season.
The nest at Manton Bay has been in use since 2007 and its history can be found here.
I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Webcam has been fixed and up and running again :-)

Thankyou all for all the lovely updates! Wont be long now and 30(05) on her way home. Seeing the pics of the nest just waiting for Mrs 5R and Blue33, so exciting! Safe journey home to them.
Cant help feeling sorry for the geese though :( Youd think theyd learn that the owner would be back soon!
Yes Willow, you would think the EGs would know by now but they never seem to learn!
Night cam now on and an EG has settled itself down perhaps for the last evening as Maya could be back very soon, maybe even tomorrow for in 2014 she arrived back on the 17th March.
Thanks Karen.
Birdies LG DU update.
Cameras are back and now we have an EG on the nest.
The wide-angle (at least) just dropped out cos my download stopped. I'm only "doing" the wide-angle. It's still onscreen tho :-/
IMAGICAT
When checking the nest, I have thought a few times that there was something different about the nest this year! It seems much shallower but I just put it down to it being stripped back.
But I have just noticed there is a metal tray underneath it and I cannot ever remember having seen that before!!
And sure enough, looking back to a capture of the nest last year and the base is much deeper and there is no metal tray underneath!
Looks like quite a bit of work has been done here !!
Oh, I noticed that this morning, and thought they must have been busy on a total rebuild this year. I have read comments elsewhere that nests can get too top heavy and there becomes a danger of them falling over.
Amazingly blue water!

All Blue33's hard work undone :'( Let's compare at the end of the season. Of course you will ;-D
Of course Scylla LOL.
I think Blue 33 will love it! Just think of all the fun he (and us) is going to have rebuilding it. Actually the steel tray underneath is probably a good thing for if any nest needs reinforcement then I think it is this one! LOL
