HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Relax and sleep well tonight, Heather.
We have sat down and I am watching, Midsomer Murder. Easy viewing and I don't have to think too much. LOL
Linda, Good about your OH's check up, but the hot flushes must be annoying for him.
Linda – All pools must have security fencing. Pools built before Jul 1993 must be compliant with current standards before property can be sold. There are restrictions too on size/depth of above-ground pools. When we came here 40+ years ago, our street had no front fences, just sweeping open-ness. Now, so many have added a pool to their front yard that fences dot the vista. Who needs a pool when we are only ½ mile from beach!
Thinking of Margo. {{{HUGGS}}}
We just watched a couple of programs we had recorded – farming, wildlife etc. Sounds like a sit-down evening for many of us! Sorry you had a bad night – followed by a busy day, Heather; hope it’s a better night tonight! Brenda – nice to have time without thinking – I did quite a lot of thinking today, adjusting menus as J has been adding to his foods he doesn’t like; I am not cutting out things we two choose, I am putting in substitutes which he likes – he’ll probably be complaining soon that his meals lack variety! AQ – how sensible to have laws about fencing pools, but still good that your Daughter insists on Nannies staying nearby!
And, so to bed (well, evening drink, preparatory to bed!)
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Evening all: Safe and sound at my two-thirds-way point to see g'daughter and Ms. D. LA traffic was a bore but not terrible thought it was a much more relaxing drive once out of the city. Am now just a few miles from the Colorado River, which marks the boundary between California and Arizona. I'll be up early in the morning, with 3.5 hours at least of driving. Told granddaughter I'd meet her and Ms. D when she finishes pre-school (actually pre-kindergarten) so we can transfer kiddie car seat and g/daughter can go back to work, then realized Arizona is one hour ahead of California. So will be up an hour earlier than planned!
OG: I'll have to ask Mike what last year's figures revealed and how El Nino might affect this year's. They look at patterns over the years (a long-term effort). Magic skin paste!? Does it get rid of wrinkles? More important - here's hoping heating it help with the application.
Brenda: Are these your trees that are coming out or is all the work at the behest of the neighbor A shame that people have been using her land as a dumping ground.
Lindybird: Isn't there anything your OH can take to reduce the hot flashes? I wonder how similar they are to what women get... As AQ says, all pools here must have security fencing (I think - I remember reading something about it - but we don't have one).
Have a good Thursday all. Will catch up tomorrow if I get the chance.
Annette: I hope you have a wonderful time with your family! Safe travels!
Heather: Hope the plumbing problems are repaired. That would drive me crazy having the water running continually. Water is expensive here. I had a pipe freeze and leak last winter underground. I didn't know it until I got the water bills for $400!!!
OG: I so hope that warming will improve the application of the paste! Hope it helps your skin!
Lindy: I'm glad your OH had a good result from his blood test. I'm sorry he's still experiencing hot flashes. My dad had them for quite a while after his cancer treatment. I know they're very uncomfortable. They did eventually stop sometime between 18-24 months (I can't remember exactly.)
Brenda: I so, so hope that the laser treatment will be very effective for your OH's eyes. I'm sorry that he is having ongoing issues. Must be so worrisome for both of you.
Margo: Thinking of you.

But there aren't any sharks in the pool! LOL
Good Morning, All. Misty here, but it's finally stopped raining after a couple of days and nights of it.
Thanks for the sympathy over my OH's hot flushes: apparently some people have them more severely than others afterward - he had large injections in his stomach of female hormones which suppresses the normal male hormones, which are causing the tumour to grow. It's a big shock to the system, and affects you emotionally as well: he was quite tearful for a few months. I had really bad hot flushes myself for over 12 years after reaching "that certain age" so I know what it's like. (I went onto hormone pills at one point, for five years) His are very similar - frequent and with no warning.
Glad that Annette is safely on her way.
Just been in the shower so not had time to finish the above. My OH was given dietary advice supposed to help with this, but he won't drink decaf coffee which is advised as he hates it. As he only has a couple of coffees a day, I doubt if it matters anyway. He took some Evening Primrose Oil for several months, which was hard work for me, as he never remembered to take them! They certainly didn't make any difference.
Ho hum: We are hugely grateful that his treatment was successful, and he is in good health otherwise, apart from aches & pains, so mustn't grumble.
Freezing fog here – whitest frost of the winter – very pale sunrise. Pleased that J has planned all day available to travel – he can set out late morning and avoid worst weather and traffic.
Annette – pleased traffic was tolerable once out of the city. Sorry you have to get up an hour earlier to transfer Miss D as planned!
Diane – you haven’t said whether your weather has warmed up this week – or told us how you are! I hope all okay.
Linda – I was warned that my aromatase inhibitor tablets could cause hot flushes, but I only seem to be getting night sweats – giving me disturbed sleep and weird dreams!
Cleaning day here for OH; ironing for me!
