HAPPY NEW WEEK!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Brenda: Speaking of suitcases, we never pack 'his and hers' after losing a suitcase for three days once when I had nothing to wear except what I stood up in, plus one of my OHs T shirts! So now we always mix up the contents, at least you'd have something to put on your back! (and apparently, the Spanish ladies never wear knickers, as we couldn't find any, anywhere in the shops........)
My OH is a minimal packer, taking very little, which is nice for me (more room for shoes, LOL!) But I have to persuade him to take some alternative shirts or I tire of seeing him in repeat outfits! We do take two large beachtowels to lay on the beach, which take up room.
Hope Margo is feeling lots better today and they can go out for that steak!
Good Morning Everyone. Dry now but rain forecast for later. A very mild morning.
Don't forget that Margo now has an extended weekend with her husband. She is feeling fine.
Lynette, Thanks for the Pete's pond captures. I never seem to have time to look these days.I am sorry, but I seem to have forgotten about the problems with your brother's house. I do hope all will be resolved very quickly.
Diane, Your temperatures are warmer than our's. So pleased to see that you can enjoy something a lot warmer for you. The fire looked very serious, not helped by the wind.
Annette, I wouldn't worry. When children hear our age, they think we are ancient, including our skin, but then they expect us to join in their very active games, without any thought of our age. LOL
AQ, I, too, wonder how your daughter is going to cope with a pup and very young children. You need ' eyes in the back of your head ' when dealing with either pups or children. I think I would go on strike. LOL
Linda, Good idea about the suitcases. Having never lost a suitcase, I have never thought of your system.
Good morning all and another week has passed by. Thanks for all your kind mentions as always.
As Brenda mentioned the day of transfusions turned out to be rather long. Appointment for 9.30 but blood did not arrive until an hour later. The platelets only just arrived in time as they are given separately. 4 hours for blood and 30 minutes for platelets. We did not get back home until after 4.00. I was absolutely shattered. HB and platelet levels had dropped considerably which explained why I felt so awful last weekend. I try not to worry too much but always wondering how long things will last before the same process is required. Have a blood test Tuesday prior to seeing the Consultant on Wednesday. Next chemo treatment due on 7 March. Will have a blood test on Friday before so will be able to judge when I might need a further transfusion.
It is wonderful to be able to spend an extra day with my wonderful OH. So good to see him able to relax a little more. Yesterday we got up just after 8.00, got ourselves ready and went for a drive round the coast. Headed back to Bournemouth to have a cofee at a new cafe that had opened right on the sea front. We only intended to have a coffee but a delicious smell of breakfast greeted us and we could not resist ordering the same. Great breakfast sitting by the window with the sun streaming through, watching the world go by and enjoying being so close to the sea. We enjoyed the best of the weather as it started to rain in the afternoon. Have decided that we will go back next Friday and try lunch. It was another instance of being able to forget my health for a couple of hours and that does not happen too often. Tonight we are going for a steak again, my mouth is watering already. This is the time in between treatments when I actually feel hungry so I make the most of it. Yesterday evening I really fancied a bowl of cereal, which I had and really enjoyed.
OG pleased to read that cream is helping your skin. I know how sore it must have been as I had radiotherapy on a skin cancer on my back. It was OK to begin with but when the treatment finished got very sore and most uncomfortable. Hope the station situation for J can be resolved but pleased hospital check was satisfactory. Hope colds do not turn into anything nasty.
Annette pleased you are enjoying family time, as mentioned by Heather family time is precious.
diane always good to hear from you. Weather this year very strange the world over. I noticed blossom on trees yesterday and we are only half way through February. The daffodils in my garden have been in bloom for a couple of weeks now and despite the wind and heavy rain and frosts they are withstanding everything that is thrown at them weather wise. Not had a lot of frost up until now but it has turned very mild again but according to forecast temperatures will drop again next week. Sounds like a really bad fire probably not helped by the warm temperatures either.
Heather you must be so pleased to have a working shower and you don't have to resort to giving it a good bang.
AQ oh dear a yappy dog to contend with as well as the children. Hope it all works out satisfactorily.
Lindybird how wise to have his and her cases in case one goes missing. I used to be a bag of nerves waiting for our luggage to appear on the carousel, made even worse if they were last to appear. Hopefully weather will be fairy decent for you on your holiday. Hope you will enjoy some sun. Thankfully your OH's check up was satisfactory but shame about the continued hot flushes. Glad you managed to rescue the cap and hot pacjpk from Bonnie. Seems as though everything is fair game to her.
Lynette sorry to read that situation with your brother's house is far from being resolved. Thanks for all the captures, has reminded me to look in at Pete's Pond.
Brenda enjoy your chat with your son, I know how you miss him.
OH has just returned with shopping so will help put it away, it is the least I can do. He had also treated me to some perfume I like, I feel so lucky to share my life with him.
Have a good weekend all and take care.
Margo x
OG soup is always better on day 2.
LINDY The only time we had a suitcase incident was when OH was the manager of Sumburgh Airport (do you think they were trying to tell him something.)
Anyway it was located quickly and driven to my parents where he was staying.
We have had cases go missing on three occasions that spring to mind, so like LINDY, I mix up the contents of cases these days. Each time, the case was delivered to the door within a couple of days, max. It follows that we never put jewellery or medication or keys etc in our main luggage. I don't suppose that anyone does. Ha ha LINDY, regarding underwear! They don't seem to sell it in supermarkets in Spain but I found a shop in Tenerife that was a bit like Pr****k. The queues at checkout were hugely long, at least twenty in front of me, mostly locals.
OG went out with Benson shortly after talking to you. I did remark that the sky looked rather ominous but OH reckoned it wasn't coming our way. Two mins later the heavens opened and the wind got up. The snow and sleet swirled around and we arrived home soggy. It was lucky that we were out before it started otherwise Benson would have put the brakes on!!!
Yes, DIBNLIB, a pretty miserable day here. Neither of us have ventured outside but stepson came in the afternoon for coffee and he and OH had a good afternoon together, chatting with no wicked stepmother lol. It is important to give them some Dad/son time, I think.
I made cornish pasties for dinner tonight.Very unhealthy.
Just lost a long post - nothing of consequence, so will abandon the attempt! Never done that before - blaming my PC! Will make a fresh start when we have new thread tomorrow.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
HEATHER after 36 years of marriage OH has decided he actually likes duck after all so this evening we had M&S duck a l'orange, colcannon and carrots and peas. We finished with a new discovery, Cornish Cruncher with balsamic onions. This is definitely our favourite cheese of all time.
I know we shouldn't talk politics, but we are fed up of hearing about the amazing deal DC has done for us. Who does he think he is kidding!!! We have to put up with this baloney till June 23rd. Think I will have to not read the papers or watch tv till it is all over.
