LOOKING FORWARD TO 2016 BRINGING US A FULL NEST AT LOCH GARTEN WITH EJ AND ODIN AT THE HELM.
We were just on the barest edge of "the big storm: Almost nothing here. Portsmouth, Ohio, 100 miles upriver east of here had 8" snow emergency warnings, but they have really been hit really hard on the east coast I understand. Will check the Outer Banks cams and see what they show.
Hi June, Glad to hear you are well and have not been inundated with snow. I feel so sorry for those people affected. We have only had a small sprinkling of snow a week or so ago and a few days of so-called hard frost here in balmy Surrey! Getting ready for the Big Garden Birdwatch next weekend in the UK--cleaning feeders and noting when I see various birds in order to choose the best time to count them. Siskins and Goldfinches and a sweet Wren today along with various Tits, Blackbirds, Chaffinches, Collared Doves, Wood Pigeons, Starlings, Sparrows, Magpies, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a single Thrush and today a prospecting Crow.
Kind regards, Ann
So relieved to hear from you June & pleased that you have not been in the thick of it all! Been seeing news on TV, looks positively dreadful!
Sounds as if you need a new system ... have you ever considered a reliable refurbished one with higher spec than you have now? Personally, I like to stick with Dell & have had a couple of refurbs which are good!
Take care

Good evening June Gardenbirder and Wendy. June relieved to see you post :) Was getting a little anxious ! Glad you are not snowed under. Feel very sorry for those affected. We are having unseasonally mild weather.
Burns Night the anniversary of the birth of Scottish poet Robert Burns is celebrated annually on January 25th. The tradition of Burns Night Supper first held by the poets close friends in 1801 five years after his death, still continues this day.
We have a Chieftain Haggis with Neeps for supper tonight and a wee drop of Dalwhinnie to wash it down.
If you would like to hear the lyrics of one of the poets pieces sung magnificently by Tom and Jack then click on the Haggis to listen.
Enjoy your meal tonight Keith - I love the wee haggi!! Slàinte to you and your family.

I have in my collection this album by Jo Stafford. It contains 12 Burns poems all beautifully set to music and beautifully performed by Miss Stafford, an American of Scottish descent, according to the album cover. Some of the music, again according to the cover, is traditional while some was written especially for this album. Several of these songs are on YouTube and can be found with this link.
Such a wealth of material to choose from, that it is difficult to select. But I always think variety is good and this is very different from the lovely music of Jo Stafford - - and perhaps more authentic. Click on th picture to hear.

I found this video very interesting. However, if you do not eat beef liver or chicken liver or will not cut up a whole, but already cleaned chicken - Fair Warning!! DO NOT WATCH THIS.
