LOOKING FORWARD TO 2016 BRINGING US A FULL NEST AT LOCH GARTEN WITH EJ AND ODIN AT THE HELM.
Good morning all. No Gardenbirder I have never seen a glossy ibis but they have been seen at Dungeness. I think Im overdue a visit there soon as not been for ages time does not permit lately!
No church this morning for me. Snow wasn't bad, but I'm a coward when it snows. No snowplows needed, driveway and road were pretty much cleared by wind by 11:00 am.. but probably still icy spots. Two of the photos are of icicles across front of house. Only small, about 4 inches. Still unusual enough to be of wee interest to me, as I like stuff like that.
June, No snow at Ithaca in your squirrel webcam captures but you have snow, and very picturesque it is! Love the icicles. Sorry you did not make it to church--maybe next week. Don't want you to slip and fall (or skid off the road).
Kind regards, Ann
Not unusual, Ann. They are probably 300-400 miles north and west of us and either direction can make a difference. Weather usually moves to the west, so NY might get our snow tomorrow. North/south might mean a miss altogether or the snow dies out before it gets here. Or being north and maybe colder they might have snow when we don't. Several times I have noticed that to be the case in recent months.
Good morning all. June Im not surprised you did not go to church in that snow! Im also a coward driving in snow absolutely hate it! Your icicles look beautiful and your snowy garden.
Just learned of the news that David Bowie has died, so shocked! I grew up with his music as so many of us did! No one seemed to know he was so ill just his closest family. RIP David
Stay warm and safe June and have a mug of hot soup:) I think that we are due a little flurry of sleet or snow tomorrow :(
With not much news on the Osprey front it was great news to hear that the Rutland Water Team on a visit to Africa have sighted 32 (2011) during a boat trip to Iles de Oiseaux in Senegal.
32 (2011) is the male partner of Rutland's satellite tagged female 30 (2005) and they produced Rutland's 100th chick.
Next week the team will be visiting 30 (2005) the other half of the pairing at her wintering grounds and given she is fairly stable and tagged should be easy to locate.
SIGHTING OF 32 (2011)
"Absolutely an individual to have discovered on his wintering grounds in Senegal" as Kayleigh elatedly blogged from Senegal.
Great news, Keith! Thanks for the notice--I had stopped checking the Rutland website so must start up again. I hope they will see 30 as well. She is one of my favourites.
EXCELLENT A+ article, Keith!! Great osprey pictures plus others. And that is just looking, I must find time to read this story of their adventures. I'm sure that will be very interesting as well.
