Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), 25 October 2015

HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!

Last week's Chat thread is here.

The Full Moon is Tuesday. It's the last of three consecutive perigee full moons (so-called "supermoons"). However, its appearance will be more subtle due to a Minor Lunar Standstill.

We are well into autumn here in Indiana. The winds are gusting today, and the brightly colored leaves are falling. The Texas storm front is flowing into the Midwest, and the remnants of Hurricane Patricia will be over my patch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not good news for my leaky roof.

I've just been bitten hard on the ankle by a spider, who has painfully reminded me that I really need to clean my house!

Many white-tailed deer have been grazing around my yard this past week, and I've spent a lot of time just watching them. If I stand still and stay quiet, I can view them from the doors and the windows and they aren't bothered by my presence. They're so beautiful; they nourish my soul.

Everyone have a great week and enjoy the moon!

Best wishes to OG and EE. I hope they've had safe travels and OG's treatment regimen will be effective and as easy as possible on her body. Thinking of you, Margo.

  • Morning all:

Margo: Oh boo. Another wrinkle in your treatment - let us know what the next steps are. We're all sending positive thoughts your way.

OG: Can I interest your OH in some 2x4 pieces of wood and other odd construction stuff lurking in our garage?

Heather: I suspect we're all wimps compared to AQ when it comes to nanny duty. What program was your OH an extra on?

Lindybird: Tale of the thorn in Bonnie's foot made me wince; glad you spotted the problem (though your OH probably would've noticed once he was out the door).  We haven't heard of her noshing on your clothes lately; what's with that?  I wouldn't mind seeing all those old ruins in Malta. :-)

    Off to get sorted.

  • Out this evening - a debate entitled "Looking after our Land", then a supper.  Should be very interesting, judging by speakers' list.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • ANNETTE- We can't remember the TV series except it was Inspector something or another. It was filmed ( at least where OH got his moment of fame) in the Faerie Glen on the Black Isle, near Inverness.

  • MARGO- so sorry to read this news - please keep us up to date if you feel like doing so xxxx

  • Very sorry Margo. Best wishes and positive thoughts from this direction, also.

  • Margo- so sorry to hear your bad news, will be thinking of you and as Heather says, we are all here for you to talk to us if you feel like it.

  • Margo – Sending you lots of positive thoughts.

Annette – Nanny duty will only ease for OH when Miss19 returns as he is the one doing an extra day.

Today I have a late start (1 pm woohoo) as Miss4 has a practice morning at Kindy (together with mother & twins). Practice now? She doesn’t start the real thing until next Feb! I shall make the most of my free morn by doing food shopping.

  • Margo - Sorry about your disappointing news - we are all thinking of you and your OH.

  • AQ - enjoy your food shopping!

I'm writing this on my new Tablet, hooray!  My OH says it's an early Christmas present, but really it's because he was finding that I could no longer answer his questions quickly enough ;-)  Spent a while tuning it in this afternoon then tried to post on this thread, but the Site was being awkward, bah!

  • Good Morning, All.   Wonder if the Site has been awkward for others, as no posts on here since mine last night.  Drizzly & damp, here.

I arose extremely early and staggered around to get to the Docs at 8.00am -  he has checked my BP and is reasonably happy for me to stay on the meds I'm on & then see him again in a month.  He also looked at the (very) sore and inflamed skin around my eyes and has prescribed some antibiotic cream which we both hope will do the trick.

MY OH is clearing out a drawer full of papers and has them strewn all around - good job that Bonnie is asleep on a chair.  Annette: She still steals the tea towel if I forget to put it out of reach, which of course means getting a clean one out of the drawer.  She has crunched a couple of biros lately, and eats her own dog lead if we don't hang it up.  I went to someone else's house and automatically cleared the coffee table the other day - I had to explain that we don't leave anything at all on tables or she steals it!

Off to find the suitcases for our hols, and the various small things you need when away from home.  Have a good day, All.
