HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY FULL MOON!
Last week's Chat thread is here.
The Full Moon is Tuesday. It's the last of three consecutive perigee full moons (so-called "supermoons"). However, its appearance will be more subtle due to a Minor Lunar Standstill.
We are well into autumn here in Indiana. The winds are gusting today, and the brightly colored leaves are falling. The Texas storm front is flowing into the Midwest, and the remnants of Hurricane Patricia will be over my patch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not good news for my leaky roof.
I've just been bitten hard on the ankle by a spider, who has painfully reminded me that I really need to clean my house!
Many white-tailed deer have been grazing around my yard this past week, and I've spent a lot of time just watching them. If I stand still and stay quiet, I can view them from the doors and the windows and they aren't bothered by my presence. They're so beautiful; they nourish my soul.
Everyone have a great week and enjoy the moon!
Best wishes to OG and EE. I hope they've had safe travels and OG's treatment regimen will be effective and as easy as possible on her body. Thinking of you, Margo.

Lindybird: Looked like there's a duck in one of those pix - more my style. Also, in a previous photo, I'd have probably replaced that red beanbag with a more traditional wooden seat - but they didn't ask me! :-) Thanks for a great selection of photos from the show.
Lindybird, Yes, your pics are a great selection from the show. Thank you for posting them. I agree with Annette's comments about the beanbag. Also the previous one.
OG, Any building work is such a pain. But it is lovely when it is finished. Both for the house to be free of plumbers etc, (useful as they are) and to have a sparkly new bathroom.
I am in the south of France on a river cruise. I didn't dare imagine we would be here, as we had one booked last year, but OH had a medical emergency a week before we were due to leave and everything went pear-shaped.
LINDY just loved your Tatton Park photos and those sculptures are amazing.
ANNETTE I have a stone duck in my garden. I also have 2 frogs, one is sitting in a deckchair with a hanky on his head, the other is rowing a boat. Very froglike actiivities!!!!! and numerous other birds and animals.
OG so very glad you have to go to Carlisle for treatment. OH and I couldn't work out why you weren't offered that to begin with. Probably because it is in England and their NHS service is different to ours.
Not long back from the dentist. Yup, it's that crown again. I know it is a temp crown before they do RCT and a permanent crown, but this is getting ridiculous!!!
Very bad news about puffins. It would seem they are in severe decline because of a food issue.
Rosy: How exciting! Hope you enjoy yourselves. River cruises sound so restful. My sis-in-laws did the one on the Rhine this year and loved it. What a shame you missed it last year - did you have to rebook?
Annette: Very observant of you! The bird to the right in the rear of Alice is also from Alice in Wonderland: The Dodo! All the sculptures seemed to be mythical creatures or characters from books. Some of them had "sold" tickets on so I wondered who had bought them, and where in UK they would be going...... I agree about the bean bag. I suppose the bright red in amongst all the greenery made a statement. I much prefer metal or wooden seating. But it was an imaginative garden.
I am trying on my holiday clothes and hoping that my shorts are going to fit me...... we ate a lot of cake in Wales, we needed comfort food LOL!
ROSY I bet you are having a wonderful time. Sorry about last year.
dibnlib: Glad you enjoyed looking at my pics. I have a metal duck I bought a couple of years ago and posted a picture of him on here.
You've reminded me that with my in & out posting today, in between all the jobs I had to do today (not done them all yet, argh) I forgot to congratulate OG on her getting the radiotherapy sessions changed to Carlisle - how much better that will be, so happy for you OG.
Wow, You have been busy this afternoon.
Linda, I would love to have a garden big enough to have those figures. They are fantastic. I have a chameleon and a heron. LOLOnce my OH's Blepharitis cleared up, a few years ago, it has never returned, so fingers crossed that your's will clear and not return.
Rosy, How wonderful to be on a cruise. Glad that your OH is able to enjoy a cruise this year.
Dibnlib, It is bad news about the puffins. They have suffered for the last few years.Sorry about your crown problem, yet again.
Evening all: Not as hot as projected today; cooler tomorrow and then much cooler next week. Yay!
Rosy: A river cruise in the south of France? I'm so jealous. What kind of vessel and which areas are you visiting? My OH and I were planning a trip to Hawaii eons ago but he got pneumonia and we had to cancel. Turned out to be a blessing coz the islands were hit by a hurricane that year and the friends we were meeting were evacuated, Meanwhile, we ended up getting the use of another friend's house in Lake Tahoe.
Lindybird: That duck did seem to have an attitude. :-)
dibnlib: Like the idea of the frog with a hanky on his head - very whimsical How many temporary crowns have you had and when do you get the allegedly permanent one? Saw the news about puffins. They are such cute and comical-looking creature. Do hope the food issue can be sorted.
OH and I had a nice salad with some friends at a golf course very near our house today. None of us has ever played golf, and OH and I have never been there before, but the restaurant has a patio with a view of the mountains and the Channel Islands plus a waterfall, a little lake, and green grass (irrigated with "drought-friendly reclaimed water" according to signs posted prominently around the property). Very reasonable prices too - and quiet; we could actually hear ourselves talk!
Does anyone remember a post about bees and water? I responded to whoever it was saying that I saw them around our fountain. Anyway, the last few days in the late afternoon I've spotted about 10 bees all congregated at the fountain. Seems odd only that I didn't see that many previously when it was really, really hot and have never seen that many. Oh well.
Going to try a new yoga teacher tomorrow morning. Fed the washing machine tonight. It's all happening! :-)
Take care everyone.
Good Morning All. Wrote a post over an hour & a half ago, and still waiting for it to post.....
Here's what I wrote on my tablet:
Good Morning. Woke early due to pains in one leg - I get them sometimes, ever since I had the shingles. At least I've got a good start on the day, lots to do again. Great that Annette had a good salad with a nice green view! And its getting cooler there at last. Hooray!
I heard about the puffins, too - its been muttered for ages that they were endangered but I'm not sure how the problem can be resolved. Lovely little things.
Getting to grips with my new tablet now. Notice that when I post, I still get things coming out in one big block, whether I put in paragraphs or not :-(
