DYFI OSPREY PROJECT - SEPTEMBER 2015

As usual, Monty is still with us into September (although his family all  seem to have gone) - and there's always Blue 24....

Early morning Monty

  • Awwww!  Some young starlings are on the T-post:

    I hope Starling sees these!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • What other large raptor could they land so close to?  I imagine Monty feels he's seen it all in his time at Dyfi:

  • Blimey!  It's back:

This probably explains why the starlings are nowhere in sight.  It has now flown and the camera is back on Monty.

  • The camera has now found the kestrel doing its business:

    Wonderful, SCYLLA. Thank you.

This might interest other "videographers" (not wishing to over-elevate us but you know what I mean)...  According to YouTube nobody whatsoever has watched the "young barn owl cavorting" video :-/

BIRDSONG - that's why I keep saying "just in case" and "you never know"... every moment with His Gorgeous Montyness could be our last.

How lucky we have been with the birds frequenting Monty's house and garden - Barnies and Tawnies, starlings, kestrels, buzzards... who's been left out?

EDIT - oh yes, CORVIDS - well they don't count, the devils ;-D

Whaaaaaaaaat?  Crows, rooks, magpies.....and the magnificent ravens?  We've also had a whole host of gorgeous smaller birds appearing as well.

Monty is clearly feeling threatened by the attention given to all the other birds and is putting on a display:

    He's now back to preening.

Sorry, Most Magnificent Scylla - I'll watch it now as I'm sure it's lovely!

  • That was gorgeous viewing.  The owl actually reminded me of our male cockatiel, who also likes to flaunt his wings at us all!

  • Monty has flown, probably to the cam post.

  • The camera has now moved to a bird in flight.....Monty?  Actually I'm not sure if it's even an osprey:

All becometh clear - there are two birds in flight, both quite big.
