Good evening all. Whast a beautiful photo of Monty in the early light! It seems as if he is surveying and patrolling his territory. Hes a magnificent bird as all are but hes special :)
New blog from Jen and it has been confirmed that EJ has left us :( The Southward movement has begun. The female at LoTl has also left.
Stunning photos of the ospreys you visited and yes its really amazing that they have done so well after all the noise and disturbance!
Our local swallows do not appear to be in a rush to go anywhere yet. In fact I watch them every day flying low over the pasture which has been left ungrazed and is full of long grass that has seeded. There must be plenty of insects for them. Seems to have been a good year as Ive seen more this year !
My typing just clicked back to normal so maybe I can talk a bit better now for a while, but there really doesn't seem to be a whole lot for me to say.
So EJ Has gone, apparently a wee bit early. I believe Keith thought she would as she has no chicks to look after.
Always sad to see a season end, but there has been almost nothing for me at LG this season anyway.
Enjoy your swallows while you can, Willow. They sound delightful.
Keith your last report is interesting, too. as always! GOOD NEWS that the osprey at T in the Park apparently were not harmed by the disturbance. Apparently they tolerate much more than we give them credit for: traffic, golf courses, trains, what else?
Good afternoon all. Ihave really enjoyed this season of ospreys even though there have been no chicks at LG this year. The first time I did really shed tears for our birds was when I though Odin had gone after the violent intrusion, Im embarrassed to say! (ok also when Caledonia was killed :() In some ways we saw Osprey behaviour as it is, wether we like it or not. It is what they are and extremely fascinating. Their strategies for survival.
It has been really great too that we have seen Odin and EJ enjoying each others company and contiuing to strengthen their bond. Also with many thanks to the camera operators at LG panning around so that we can see them in "The Love Tree"! These wonderful captures have given them another dimension.Very many thanks to the poster on the Daily update thread for these beautiful captures of surroundig area and close ups of EJ and Odin. Also good to see that Odin appears to be stamping his ownership of his nest by bringing more amd more material to it :)
Sorry that should read POSTERS,as many have contributed to this wonderful thread. Am particularly grateful as Im unable to watch the live cam but so enjoy the photos and videos they have shared. And at ungodly hours too :)
Good evening all. Here are a couple of cactus flowers that I promised to post ages ago!
