A swimming osprey?? Yes, this is a first for me too. First time I ever even heard of such a thing.
JUNE - They take a bath. The female jumped in and submerged completely with just her head visible. She swam around for some distance and swam all the way to the shore from that branch in the loch. First time in 17 years I've seen one swim so good. I,ve seen this from some distance at Rutland - Manton Bay but think then it was just shallow and not swimming - Probably just washing.
JUNE - Here is one swimming to drag its fish ashore.
SWIMMING OSPREY

Good afternoon Just realised have posted on July thread and not here! What a numpty. Keith your photos are brilliant and hope you enjoyed your visit. Amazing video of the swimming osprey! I think their feathers are very waterproof. We must enjoy these beautiful birds while we can as they wont be around for very much longer . How quickly this season has gone ! But its been a good one generally!
Good afternoon all. Just been looking around and its great to see Odin and EJ still around even though not on the nest very much. Some fabulous captures on the update thread or our magnificent Odin hes truly star quality and knows it :)
We have 2 juvenile buzzards who were born woodland near to where I live and every day we hear them crying i think they might be food begging. Yesterday one of the flew very low over our garden about 6 feet and i got a really good view of him(or her) Still crying as he went! Very noisy and parents must be keen for them to leave home! They frequently walk around in the field picking up scraps of something. I saw them ripping apart 2 pidgeons which i did not think they ate!
They too are magnificent birds of prey and a joy to watch soaring in the skies! They are becoming more common now thankfully! I do worry as they shoot and breed pheasants around where I live :(
It isn't fair! These are on facebook, by my minister Fred Shaw. I've asked online for details.
Just look at the beautiful feather patterns captured in this photo.
