Yesterday EJ and Odin spent more time seemingly highly contented with each other, and viewers were again treated to accompanying them almost wherever they went - and took full advantage, with copious gorgeous captures.
It's a glary nest night - never mind, it will be fine come dawn.
IMAGICAT
Well time to look at migration dates for EJ
migration dates for Odin
Another 21 days for EJ?
Odin we do not know as he has not been in this situation before.
Tiger Signature
Another osprey flew left to right below the nest, as Odin did a silent mantle. It has passed by. Was it EJ...

Oh dear Tiger, please don't rub it in! :) It has been a really sad, yet fascinating season.
What with stalled cam and buffering cam...
11.09
and still within the minute, Odin has flown
Thanks for the info Tiger. I do wish that it had been one of "our" birds. Not long left :((
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
My biggest disappointment is that Breagha did not come north. Sadly he has preferred to stay in France.
However there has been news of another Loch Garten chick viz Green 2E. 2E was the runt of the 2000 brood and found to have fishing line with a hook in his throat. The line was removed but not the hook.
Not seen again until 30 June 2012 and he was spotted.
A few days ago he was spotted again and he was clearly supporting a family.
So once again just because a chick is weak does not mean it cannot grow into a strong osprey.
I bet Odin will stay at least as long as EJ does. He will want to defend his nest and his beautiful mate.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
A picture of Ollie and Olive when they were "making" 2E
They made him remotely?
I agree, Tiger, it is disappointing that Breagha decided (?) to stay in the Loire area of France. However, it is also interesting that the only two birds during the EJ and Odin era which have survived the two years in Africa returned to the areas in France where they both had long stop-overs during their first migration south.
Excellent news about Green 2E(00). It would be lovely to know where (what area) he is nesting, and how his off-spring have fared over the years. Presumably he was an Ollie and Olive chick? Edit: I see you have already answered this question!
ENS, and the rain is falling.
