Happy New Week all:
Rumbles of thunder all day, but it seems to be passing just east of us. Apparently our share arrives tomorrow evening.
I seem to have lost the Rich Text formatting option - and the text has gone weird.
OG: Apparently Aldi is going to open some stores in California. Your lunch at the Old Toll House sounds wonderful.
HEATHER: Here's a very long link to a film of passengers arriving g to board the Lusitania on its last voyage. Extremely clear images for the times. www.criticalpast.com/video/65675040085_SS-Lusitania_passengers-arrive-at-dock_passengers-aboard-SS-Lusitania_author-Elbert-Hubert
LINDYBIRD: My hammock, which as a large metal frame, is stored in the garage in favor of my zero-gravity folding chair, which is so much easier to put up and then away.
LYNETTE: Home delivered groceries sounds wonderful, except I buy from three separate stores and like to see/feel the veggies/fruit.
You'll never forget it, Clare! A special day for them, and for you. I've seen several of the chicks from LG fledge, which made me shout out loud even though there was no one in the house to hear me!
We are having a mixed time here: I am threatening to sell our puppydog! Two days ago we were sitting in the garden with her and noticed she was underneath our Acer tree. She then reappeared with a large branch of it in her mouth! I ran over, and realised that she has removed no less than four of the lower branches with her teeth. This has spoilt the look of the tree, which I have been nurturing for over 15 years, having bought it as a little tree in a pot.
Today, she has been digging under another tree where I have put down some dark slate pieces as ornamental surroundings, and it has a piece of strong plastic under that to keep out the weeds: she has pulled this up and destroyed it. Whilst we were clearing up, I found that there were various small pieces of white bark and wood on the patio: she has been systematically pulling apart the stems at the base of two clematis we have growing up the house. There is wood everywhere and the plants are just about still intact..... My OH has put some wire netting around the base of it to save what we have left.....
Blimey, Lindy. I'm not sure whether to 'Like' your post or not! She is one enterprising puppy.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Better take her to obedience classes Sorry about your Acer tree That must be very upsetting
Oh LINDY. I know I have laughed at her escapades but that would have broken my heart.
Until I read LINDY's post I was feeling a bit sorry for myself and all because I found cobwebs in the corners of the dining room ceiling (how long have they been there?)
Now realise that anything that can be fixed by a feather duster can't be so bad.
I've just looked up Acer trees - they are so beautiful and come in so many colours. I'm sorry about what has happened to yours, Lindy.

Just now, we sat in the garden shelling peas in the sunshine. Then I could see her chewing something NOT green, as of course she was taking the empty pods out of the bucket as we worked....... she had "stolen" a raw potato out of another bucket, and has eaten most of it - remains to be seen if she will now be sick!
In our back porch are the remains of two dog beds which I lovingly bought when she was tiny and cute: I don't know if I can sew them back together or whether indeed, to bother! At present she sleeps on a piece of "vet bed" which is fluffy material on a tough backing. This has to be taken away from her as soon as she wakes in the mornings. I would have liked to put something soft underneath it, for comfort, but she would just rip it apart, even if it were newspaper. We have bought endless toys, chewing items, "indestructible" bones (which she destroyed....) balls which are in all four corners of the garden and an old shoe of my OH's which she is trying to eat, bit by bit.
I must admit which I don't tell my OH, that I would like to go back a few months to when life was peaceful!
I remember, LINDY, that one of the reasons that you got Bonnie was so that your OH would have a canine companion. It must be so difficult and I can't offer any sensible suggestions because I have never had a dog. My OH has, however and does say that his spaniel was quite destructive when young. Unfortunately that was a lot of years ago, 50 at least and he can't remember how long it lasted.
Lindybird said:She does have a lot of good points, besides looking cute! She has never ever snapped at us nor bitten anyone, she plays very well with other dogs, and she is no trouble whatsoever when travelling in the car, which is very important to us. She is affectionate and loyal, and as dogs should be, is now part of our family.
