Hallo all!
Hi, all!
Staying two nights very near where we used to live (like one mile up the road!) Been for a Sunday carvery at a pub we used to know. On the way down, we made a first stop at Rheged, near Penrith, for a cheese scone and hot chocolate, then drove right through to Brockholes (Lancs Wildlife Trust) to watch waterbirds - including young Goslings (Canada) - and have a slice of pear and almond tart (delish), so then only a local few miles further.
Thanks Annette for starting the thread, AQ for the start of the Victoria trip (will save pics for when we are home) and for all the other posts. Pleased Brenda's OH got a bowls match this week, but sorry Heather had rain and Margo had a disappointing cancellation of a show.
More Waterbirds tomorrow, and OH will be collecting his new telescope!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Dibnlib, What a pity that you have a cold now, as well as your cough. Pleased to read that it didn't spoil your evening of opera.
So sorry, Margo. I know how much you were looking forward to the Bryan Ferry concert and, especially after you had arranged for your chemo to be delayed for a week. I think, I can imagine what you said, when you heard of the cancellation.
OG, My sister has told me about Brockholes, but I haven't managed to visit, myself, yet. That pear and almond tart, certainly sounds like something I would enjoy.
Today has been lovely and sunny, but if a cloud covered the sun, the temperature seemed to drop by a couple of degrees.
Hi all, not been on for a few days. Its so lovely to read about what you have all been doing.
George - picked up on a post that you have had to have some cardiac tests etc - do hope that all goes well for you.
Margo nice to hear from you even if it was to say that the concert you hoped to go to had been cancelled due to illness. Do hope you get to the rearranged one.
Dibnib - sounds like you had a lovely time.
AQ - nice to hear about your history trip to Victoria. Friends are now in Aus. at a place called Uki just south of Brisbane. They move to Cairns early next week then on to Alice, up to Darwin, and eventually a car trip all the way across to Broom where they will fly to Perth and then on home. Quite a trip. Friends son and his family live in Uki.
Lindybird - getting out and about I see.
OG - taking a trip down memory lane - where abouts in Lancashire are you. Come from that county.
Dau. took part in the "Race for Life" today in Northampton and did the 10k run/walk. Very proud of her. She was entered by her boss from work and a the whole team took part.

Evening all: Costco and Farmers' Market this morning, then had to sort out a soaker hose that had fallen apart - had to buy/add new connections to the various bits and now have two shorter ones, which actually is more practical. Also bought cheapo beach umbrella, not for beach, but to provide portable shade for couple of spots in the garden that get all-day sunshine (all in the pursuit of using less water....)
dibnlib: Hope the cold didn't spoil the opera.
Lynette: Congrats to your daughter!
Margo: Oh boo hiss that your evening out got canceled.
Heather: Spoke to sister in Linconshire about 4 p.m. UK time and it had been nice but was clouding over and she said it had been cooler than normal.
Hope everyone else is okay - have a good Monday all.

Have a good Sunday all.
Diane: That's scary stuff. I just looked at the radar and seems like it could go on all night.... :-( So where do you go to shelter? Hope you don't try to ride it out at home....
Diane thinking of you.
