WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, MAY 31, 2015

Hallo all!  Pies, champagne, snacks on some folks menus and yes, OG, you will get addicted to BBC Rewind.

  • OG - I see you're going for more plumbing alterations - didn't you have your shower room redone a while ago? Hope it all goes well.
  • Hello all

I haven't done a big catch up since returning, sorry. Just been feeding the washing machine etc!

OH has been working in the garden, pruning etc. He really is quite a dedicated gardener and I can't even think how I will manage when he gets older and less fit:-( I am trying to watch and learn about the pruning. The rest, I already either do or help with.

We have been quite shocked to hear about the death of Charles Kennedy. He has certainly struggled with alcohol but losing his seat to the SNP after 32 years as an MP must have quite broken him up.

I am waiting for the birth of newest grandchild. Due 21st June. Sam, their eldest arrived four weeks early so my bag will be packed ready for a journey to Shropshire. I won't go until I'm called.....

    Take care, all.

  • How exciting, Heather....do hope you get plenty of notice if you have to dash off! I was very sad to hear about Charles Kennedy,as he seemed to be an honourable man - quite rare among politicians! Such a waste to go at only 55 years old.
  • LINDA - this is the same shower-room renovation.  Been in the pipeline (no pun intended) since last winter, to give the "men" a room as good as "my" ensuite wetroom!  Plans have taken ages, but we got there today and everything is being ordered - from Italy and Germany, so timing still depends on the factories' summer shut-downs!  We also did the intended gardening this morning - OH has put up the pea supports, and I hoed between all the veg rows, so everything looks neat and tidy.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • PS - managed not to hurt from the hoeing this time!

  • OG - Oh, I see! Hope all goes well now you've decided & ordered. Hope also that you're not doing too much in the garden! Wish I could say that ours is tidy, as we seem to be on a losing battle with the weeds & borders! I planted a new lupin the other day, then the next day half of it was gone, probably slugs , but we darent put down slug pellets because of the dog. And then two days later, Bonnie & her visitor trampled all over what remained in the flower border! She ate snails today so I suppose that's a kind of revenge!
  • Clare – I must admit some sympathy for the Sunday School organisers. <grin> Many years ago when our daus were teens, I was involved with our church youth group (11-15 year olds). We had quiz nights, outings to 10 pin bowling, ice-skating, visited a potato crisp factory, etc, etc, but the greatest & most talked about was the roller skating night. Months later when we suggested doing it again, the kids moaned “B-or-or-ing. We’ve done that already”.

Heigh ho, heigh ho it's off to nanny duty I go . . .

  • Aquilareen, your church clearly had a good sense of how to keep that age group occupied!  My church didn't do any of that - it was the same old stuff each week.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning, Everyone. Dry here and a bit warmer than of late. Must get down to laundry/some serious cleaning today, but hope to come on here later this morning with some pics. Went to the charity shop yesterday with some blouses I bought but have never worn, plus an old jacket I was loath to part with but had to admit I might not wear again. My OH chipped in with his 2nd best suit, as he decided it was too tight and he would never wear it, realistically. He has lost several pounds by being strong and only having an apple for lunch every day, and eating normally otherwise, barring puds. Now we both feel we ought to go through our big wardrobes and see what else we could donate! Its true that everyone only wears regularly a small portion of their wardrobe!
  • Good morning, all.  For anyone who watches Springwatch and Unsprung - Limpy was on Unsprung last night!  He really enjoyed it.
