The saga of Loch Garten 2015 is far from over. We now have a name for the new male Finrir but the battle for Loch Garten goes on.
We will see what a new day brings.

EJ continued to call, but has now gone quiet.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
I feel its possible that EJ is sitting on the nest so much as a way of trying to trigger the correct response from the males - Fish Please! She needs to stay there so that another female doesn't steal the nest, but she also needs a partner to keep her and any possible offspring in fish plenty. She will probably settle for anyone showing that they can be a provider. Don't know where Odin has been but he may now be in the back of the queue once again. Fenrir seems inexperienced and is not doing all the right things, however he's a big tough looking bird which means he has the whip hand. I think this could all end in a stand off now, as time slips away for the egg laying. :-(
Back in 2003 Henry lost the nest on 17 April to an unringed male. He did not get it back until 2nd May. See LG 2003
In 2014 Glesni took 5 days to get the nest at Dyfi back from Blue 24
Thanks so much again for the photos, Clare!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Good morning. Thank you for all the late night and early morning observations. Sadly, Fen has still not got the message from EJ. No fish - no reward!!! I have read with interest the speculation as to why EJ is still incubating. Those hormones and instincts must be really strong. I wish she would go and catch one of her lovely big fish though and just look after herself.

How do you get them Clare? without being too technical?, I luckily, am free to watch most of the day but see relatively nothing but EJ sitting. My grandkids have given up as they see very little and arent allowed on the blog/forum yet!!!
Good morning, Rusty. I am now pretty certain Fenrir is an inexperienced bird - or a complete lad!!
