More intrusions yesterday but nothing like as aggressive as they have been. Odin caused concern, he was not seen on the nest for 9 hours but stamped his authority on it and on EJ when he did eventually appear, by pseudo-mating.
It's another windy night, EJ has just taken a 2-minute break - that's 2 minutes from getting up to sitting down, not 2 minutes in flight:
She returned from an unusual direction, hope you can recognise her legs in the top right:
Flaps:
Back on the eggs, alert, she is not sleeping yet as I type:
Gosh, I need to outline EJ's face, eyes and beak in that last snap, I can hardly pick her out myself :o
IMAGICAT
Don't all cheer at once, but here's my Photoshopping ;-) to try to show the length of the fish:
Odin is demonstrating his usual proud stance as he incubates:
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
That's a boy - well done Odin:-) Thanks MOffer, Clare and Scylla for captures.
Odin takes over on the nest (and about time) after a 21 hour not on the eggs rest period.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth:
Fish would, though.
LOL Clare :D
That must have been a really big fish to start with. He had it and was eating for an hour and a half! Before he brought the rest to EJ. No wonder she was going frantic.
Exactly! I really didn't think there'd be much more than the tailfin for her :o
Busy Sunday for me, so I'll be in and out. I'm keeping the stream running with the sound turned up so hopefully won't miss anything. Even if I don't post here for a while, I'm still about.
Odin looking up and alarm calling.
