And so we begin another month. Osprey season is in full swing, with lots of action everywhere. ENJOY!

Willow - You have made some interesting comments.
It can only be speculated what has become or what are the whereabouts of Odin.
Ospreys do get overthrown and they go off and after recuperation may attempt to find a new nest somewhere and then others may have been weakened or injured in battle and sucumb to that.
One point is whether Gordon has spotted him at his Lochan where Odin often fished in the early mornings.
Off to see Dyfi tomorrow.
Gordon's brother captured a great video of Odin fishing at his lochan a few weeks ago. Here are a few stills from it.
Thanks to Aviemore Ospreys (C) - You can viw the video on his FB.
Morning - The third egg has now been broken by the new male. I know this is nature but knowing it and seeing it is hard to stomach. I doubt I'll be watching that much from now on, well maybe once I get over this. I do hope that Odin is still around but I don't think he stood much of a chance against these persistent intruders.

New Male Kicks Out Eggs
THIS IS TORTURE! Now all of Odin's eggs are gone. Of all his chicks, only Breagha remains to our knowledge.
The thought of Odin the Magnificent scrounging round for another nest is unbearable. I would almost rather see him defeated in battle.
I am not yet ready to accept another male. Of course a new male and new eggs would be best for the nest & season. IF there is still time for the chicks to be ready for migration. To some extent that would depend on the timing and severity of the onset of autumn and winter.
At least now if the male does not feed EJ,she is free to go fish for herself.
Only Breagha remains TO OUR KNOWLEDGE, but I have been reminded of Druie who was not tagged.
Also of Odins chicks, there are the three untagged, even unringed and unnamed chicks from the summer when wind prevented climbing to the nest. Also I am very much aware of GARTEN, named and ringed but not tagged. If as some believe the tags were detrimental to their survival, Garten”s and Drurie's chances were better than their brothers and sisters.
This takes into consideration the chances of the survival of Odin's genes to be passed on into the future. I was thinking more of the possibility of one of his chicks returning to Scotland within our knowledge for us to follow.
All hope pinned on Breagha now, but I would love someone to spot any of the previous chicks.
Been looking around nests this afternoon, and was watching Dunrovin cam, had a look at the facebook page, and it looks like there is drama there as well.
Hi Starling I've been getting hints from Dunroven but haven't really been following. For one thing I have had trouble connecting with their camera in any satisfactory way. For another any American nest is pretty much just a stop-gap till EJ & Odin return in the spring and for slow times during the season.
Right now I'm not in the mood for other nests - too busy feeling sorry for myself I guess. Or maybe I just need a bit of grieving time.
Anyway thanks for the hint and I'll ry to check it out.
I don't intend watching it June, have had enough drama with the LG nest. I might just keep up with it in the hope that Harriet manages somehow to hatch and raise her chicks.
