And so we begin another month. Osprey season is in full swing, with lots of action everywhere. ENJOY!
But I can't stay up all night watching them. It is past midnight (12:33 a.m.) here in Cincy and time for me to say goodnight, y'all.
Unknown said: AHH! Here is your Lochter report, Keith. I was just about to ask. Maybe not terribly exciting, but I love any report and/or photo of lochter. The picture is lovely and the report is good! Love it! Still my favorite (well second favorite) nest. The architecture captivates me. And do they still have those fabulous deserts to enjoy while one watches?

However TIGER has alerted us that Lochter Activity Centre had posted a few pictures of the new arrivals and you can take a look.
LOCHTER ARRIVALS
YES if you get up before cafe closing time you can enjoy a Meal, Cake Scone etc whatever pleases. And there is a Male and Female Turkey roaming around for you - I was sat on the grass below the nest and the male chased me off the patch I was on - the female wanted to scrape in this area and I think he was just gaurding her and of course all his followers "The Guinea Fowl" followed. I did move.
Last year the Guinea Fowl were little chicks in a cage and every day a Cockrell sat at the cage and watched over them. When they were old enough to be released they then followed him everywhere as a surrogate father. He disappeared one day maybe a fox - so the guinea fowl latched on to the male Turkey and follow him now. They all free roam around the fishery. All in all if you can get up there a Good Day.
looks to be a lovely place for osplet rearing!
Love your report, Keith. It is an excellent word picture, (especially the part about the turkeys, LOL). Next best thing to being there!
The turkey almost became our national bird, you know. On Thanksgiving day I think it is. You should have got some pictures. See, I never get enough of Lochter.
Thank you so much. I'm sure others will enjoy your report ALMOST as much as I did.
Hi, Vivienne, apparently you have read the Lochter report. Isn't it a fascinating place? And to think I once thought the Lochter nest to be a real Wild nest, off to itself in a secret place in a tall half dead real tree. Nothing could be more opposite of the truth. It took some adjusting on my part when I finally learned the real picture.
In my fantasies, if I could visit Scotland, I would fly to Lerwick, Shetland Islands then take the ferry back to Aberdeen and visit Lochter, have lunch at their café while I watched the cone nest for ospreys.
So much for Carnyx giving us a better picture. :(
Well the egg has finally been smashed at LG. Odin flew in and stood on it by accident. Scylla has posted a video of the incident on page 6 of the DU if you want to see it happen.

Starling, thanks for the news. When I don't see the egg I'll be glad to know what happened. But since I missed the main event, I think I'll pass on the rerun.
On the other hand, I'm feeling some curiosity. Guess I'll have to think about it for a while. I bought potted flowers last evening, which I need to get in the ground today. Whether or not I watch the egg destruction may depend on whether I have that extra minute.
From my friend's facebook page, the last chapter of the Bluebird nest.
EJ calls from the totally empty nest, with the wind ruffling her neck feathers.
