Another routine day, with last night's snow having hampered our devoted couple not at all.
"Routine"... it might sound boring, but the activity on this nest at the beginning of this season is the most reassuring I've seen in my short LG-watching career.
IMHO the PM hole has to be a slight concern, if only because it seems to be preventing EJ and Odin (especially Odin) from making up their minds on the nestcup position. The clumps that filled the hole didn't last long. So that's something to keep us on our toes... where will the nestcup be?
Not a lot of glare on the nest tonight, thank you HQ :-) This particular view is rather nice because you can see the birds' shadow on the "next door" tree in as they fly to the nest. But nobody's obliged yet tonight.

Another snip of the mating.... Odin doing well keeping balance.

More matings since, can't keep track!
Sharing quiet moments :-)
And around he goes for ANOTHER mating :-D
Oh dear Odin is at it again!
Who threw the rug out then, it seems to be hanging on the edge of the nest LOL....
EJ has flown.
Good morning, all! It's an empty nest at the moment.
Where is Odin finding the energy? Perhaps there's something in the Aviemore water.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
A bird has arrived and I think it's EJ:
Thank you for turning around, Your Beautifulness:
She is looking contented today:
We should be seeing eggs starting to arrive later this week......let's hope she doesn't produce a basket full after all the mating! Odin has been absolutely magnificent over the last week when it comes to showing his devotion to his beautiful mate.
Good Morning Scylla, MaryGK and Clare - you're all up/about early this morning. Once again, many thanks for keeping watch and the overnight pics/info, Scylla.
We've got quite a heavy ground frost at the moment, so I'm pleased to see that the nest is enjoying a clear, snow-free morning.
Sorry to see that 'the rug' has been shifted - wonder if it was beak or wind that caused that to happen; I would have thought that might gone some way to filling in the PM hole. Maybe they can move it back into place again - fingers crossed :-/.
I'll be popping in/out at various points during the day to see how things are going - more child-minding for me! The joys of being 'a nana' :-D.
Have a good day everybody - take care - Ollie x
