T(or not)In The Park

A Google search revealed this so I have started a new thread has been suggested.

  • I suspect Mr Ellis is keeping up-beat so that he can sell tickets - even if he has to refund.  Reading some of the comments on the festival's FB page it sounds as though folk are not exactly enamoured with the line-up.

An exclusion zone will not keep the noise out, I feel.  I live in the countryside and the noise from residents' parties, and such like, carry far at night from well over a mile away, particularly with a light wind.

I hear you Sheila, but I am not sure the law is specific enough to provide complete protection from a noise angle point of view, and perhaps completely unrealistic to think they can be completely protected against all noise, bearing in mind some  nests have railway lines close by, etc.

I am still trying to find out the current situation of the Strathallan osprey nest occupation.......has anyone any up to date info please??

  • The problem with noise from the festival isn't the decibels.  It is the fact that it will stsrt up with no warning as far as the ospreys are concenrned.  Birds nesting near railways have time to get used to the noise and learn that it poses no threat to them.

  • I so hope the weather makes this event miserable for everyone .

  • Don't wish that. Miserable weather isn't good for osprey chicks. They won't need that on top of disturbance.

  • Oh, sorry HILARY. It's just that I feel so down about all this . Alton Towers plus Glastonbury just makes me feel unwell about all this

  • A concern I have about the noise is that the event is scheduled around fledging time therefore any chicks at this nest could be startled into jumping off the nest too early!

  • I think it is not just the noise for three days, but the building and dismantling of stages etc which will be at least a week before and a week after not to mention those randomly walking around near the nest. This of course does not even begin to answer the distruption to other wildlife we forget about kingfishers otters deer red squirrels etc etc etc.

With the nest built, the second male #osprey is currently 'hanging out' on the thermals. Come on, ladies! #savestrathallan
