A Google search revealed this so I have started a new thread has been suggested.
Birdies LG DU update.
Oh my OG thanks for bringing over. I doubt it will be enough to cancel the event next year. There is usually at least 1 death at the event.
However it is terribly sad and one feels for the blokes family. You don't expect loved ones to go to a rock festival and not come back.
Am constantly checking this forum and the Strathallan'T'ag twitter account for updates on the impact on the Strathallan ospreys this weekend. The latter reported earlier today: "Osprey still there but adults using perch 100m back from nest, returning to protect chicks in face of influx of gulls. Plainly disturbed." And last night: "Birds not buying DFC bravado. Both up off nest and unsettled since music and lights began."
Sorry to hear of the fatality reported in OG's link.
I am sorry to hear the news af a fatality at Strathalan Castle and of those closely connected with this person. As yet we do not know the circumstances so can not comment but the quicker we can pack this lot up and send them home the better. Role on Monday. Fortunately going east away from it to St Andrews tomorrow.
It appears there has been mass of gulls arriving since Thursday since the revelers starting throwing their rubbish around. I have never seen gulls up there before so a new experience for these adult ospreys to handle.
Just hope these adult ospreys hang on with the young until this lot have gone.
I was quite proud to have the likes of Gleneagles and Strathallan on my doorstep but I am afraid the home of Mr and Mrs Roberts is off my like list.
Unknown said: Lmac - The two burns running through the estate (Prestney Burn and Machany Water) both tributaries of the River Earn will be the revelers latrines. SHIELA FE - Why the hek do you want to go to T in the Park !!! - I have set up my buffer zone this weekend in my own castle 8 miles south. I will try and get on site next week to see the situation but 10 days before the event was not allowed to walk up from the airfield to the castle.

Me? Good heavens absolutely no. The only festival I have been to was the Cambridge Folk Festival back in the 60s when one could just turn up and pay at the door!
How terribly sad to hear of a death. Perhaps with the number of folk together in one place it is not surprising, but still very sad.
The complaints on the TitP FB page continue to complain of the lack of loos, the terrible camp site organisation, the traffic control..... Little mention of the ospreys though.

A few minutes ago someone asked for an update on how T in the Park was affecting local wildlife.
There was soon a reply - There was a stampede of elephants wrecking the area but they appear to be having a good time.
Sad about the fatality. Of course, we don’t know how it happened, but it may cause others to stop and think, and moderate their behaviour.
Nature Lover – I saw your quotes from twitter; rather worried for the safety of the chicks.
Keith – Gulls really are opportunists where human litter is around; they are also very aggressive, but of course not in direct competition with the osprey. I think adult Osprey would come in closer to defend their chicks from Gulls if necessary.
Sheila – it doesn’t sound a happy place to be! Nearly halfway done now: hope the Ospreys can see it through!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

I don't envy the ospreys when it comes to the gulls - as threats to the young go they are easily on a level with corvids, and more aggressive with it.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Just take a look at all the flares going off within yards of nesting ospreys. This was last night.
To view the whole video of the flaring take a look at T in the Park FB at last nights postings.
Thanks Keith for the report about the flares. I think I will give the video a miss -- I've been having palpitations since the start of the festival and can't relax until it is over and know the ospreys haven't abandoned the nest/chicks. I feel sorry for all the wildlife who would be terrified by this. I thought flares were banned? I think we've still got the fireworks to "look forward to", marking the end of the "festivities".
