So, we seem to be up and running again at last.
Hope to see regulars, lurkers and newbies soon!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Brenda:
My guess for Odin's return today is the exact time that the total phase of the lunar eclipse begins (converted to U.K. time).
Even though the eclipse won't be visible in the U.K., I think Odin will have sensed the upcoming eclipse and will have sped up his journey home so he'll arrive on the nest as the moon turns red. LOL! LOL!
By the way, if anyone wants to watch the total eclipse, these two sites are live streaming it: HERE and HERE. Coverage starts in about half an hour.
Have a good day, all!
Linda is enjoying herself, but has poor wi-fi connection.
Thanks Diane.
Hello all
Thanks DIANE for the info!
BRENDA - No family invasion. I told them all that after the disruption caused by decorating and then the Danes' visit and OH and his tests and symptoms that I was on strike this Easter!! I half hoped that eldest daughter would take pity on us and do some catering but it looks as if we shall be alone, we two. However, next weekend is a granddaughter's 9th birthday and she is having a family party here on Saturday (her own request). So I don't feel too guilty for not having Easter lunch here. Its the very first time, I think they are all in shock;-))
I was sorry to hear about your bout of bad news. Similar to what we had a few weeks ago. OH says it is all part of getting older and we must learn to expect these things..... I don't think it makes a jot of difference I still get upset. But he is 15 years older than me and perhaps is more accepting of the inevitable.
Yeay! Gardening is happening in wall-to-wall sunshine - and minimal wind so it even feels warm!
Just had soup for lunch, so back to work again!
We are the exact opposite, OG. No sunshine, low, threatening, grey clouds and a very cold wind. My mother used to say that "the sun shines on the righteous." Well, we must be in trouble !!!
Heather, Enjoy your quiet Easter. The last couple of years, I have noticed how our Christmas card list has reduced. Best not to dwell on it :-)) I may not be seeing the children, but they had ordered Easter eggs to be delivered this morning. i am going to have to be very disciplined when it comes to eating them. I still have Mother's day chocolates to eat. Pity you are not nearer, you could help me. LOL
LOL Diane, what went wrong with your theory. Odin didn't arrive :-)))
Brenda: I think Odin decided he didn't care about any ol' eclipse. LOL!!!
The eclipse was fascinating, because the moon stayed in totality longer than much of the astronomy community projected. Interesting discussions happening now in science circles. I watched totality on the Slooh website
I was able to see a partial eclipse here. The moon was just growing dark when it disappeared behind the ridge by my house just prior to dawn. The birds were beginning to sing. I heard a barred owl, and I saw the dark silhouette of two deer behind the garage. And then glorious sunshine! Worth getting up early for such a beautiful dawn.
Some cloud this afternoon, but still pleasantly warm and we got so much done outside - lawns aerated, more seeds sown under cloches (for a succession of salads and herbs), flower and veg beds hoed and shed paint started. Now resting aching joints, ready to do more tomorrow! But we shall be having lunch out at the Old Toll Bar - that's two weeks running as we went to Casa Mia for our birthdays last Sunday, with live entertainment.
Diane: woke up around 4:50 a.m. Stood up, parted the blinds and there was the moon in eclipse! Lovely. Toppled back into bed and managed to knock over bedside table lamp; lamp okay but bulb a goner.
Heather: Good for you going on strike! (How come daughter is having the birthday party at your house??)
Hallo all!
