Brilliant news. I knew it the minute I went to the live cam and saw EJ sitting. Hurray. A BIG THANK you to all posts, especially all the clever folks who linked to videos for those of us who missed it. Lovely. EJ is inspecting the egg right now - and has just settled down on it again. Have to pop out; then cook dinner and still haven't had a shower; back later.
Oh joy, a fish - not very big - EJ will need it all to last overnight. Hope Odin has eaten - didn't see if he'd had the head like he usually does. I was just going to ask someone to be sure, if they could, to mention any fish being brought as I've got to go to work now. Back about 22.15 or so . So, now I go to work relieved and blessing Odin for the good provider he is .
It was unusual to see her take the fish away in her mouth. Wind now seems very strong.
EJ returns. Nothing for Odin. They mate, not easy in that wind, and Odin leaves.
I am happy to read Odin was able to catch 2 fish today to bring to the nest
Fishing is very difficult in the wind. The wind causes ripples and waves on the water surface and makes it very difficult to judge the location of the fish .
Plus he had to catch something for himself to eat so he is doing well!! And I see he remembered his role in incubating the egg.
The only fish he will be able to see and catch are the smaller ones. The big ones are deeper in the water and with the ripples and waves he won't be able to see those
How long before one of them toss most of the hay in the nest cup overboard . LOL There is way too much hay and it is getting in their way
Thanks for all the activity reports!!!

Mating is a challenge while incubating an egg(s) but they have no choice. He needs to fertilize the next eggs.
OH NO --Odin just arrived with "another" large clump of moss LOL Where will they put it ?
And another mating and he is off
he just came in, nudged her off the egg, dropped some moss into the cup and once he had her off he left to return immediately to mate, and that wasn't easy. There was qjite a bit of conversation going on throughout this whole wee episode.

Do you think they know/ can tell, its to get colder, when they're padding the egg so well with grass and moss. OR mibby the area below the bowl is still quite damp not having had time to dry out after all the snow below .
Still very windy.
