Just noticed the time so thought I'd be a chancer and start the new thread before heading off to bed :)
All's quiet on the Western Front, and on the LG nest. In this strange light the nest looks as if it has quite a deep bowl and the sides are much higher now. EJ and Odin must have realised that it's time to get down to some serious nest building as eggs will be here soon. Nice to see that Odin is remembering to bring his lady red roses (well red spagnum moss, but it's the nearest he could find.)
EJ calling
I've had the webcam on for over 15 minutes, and its gone 'off' twice, so don't know if there are technical problems.
Back on again, now -- EJ calling still.
Morning all,
I am a bit worried that Alicat spotted a pine marten in the nest last night. In Scotland some clutches of osprey eggs have been raided by pine martens. Perhaps the LG team can take some steps to deter these predators.
Webcam off again.
Alan: Yes, its worrying. Seems they will climb to great heights to look for food - that tree is huge.
Alicat I see Alan P has put a note in the blog comments about your "pine marten" comment, but I think you need to report exactly what you saw, and when, to the LG team. They may not have been able to observe it, in the dark from ground level.
I'm not sure, whether the streaming video is recorded - perhaps this is one of the things that will become possible with mains electricity.
Oh dear ... webcam going on and off ... mostly off at the moment ... must be telling me to go and do something other than sit here watching the nest :))

Thanks for all your updates and Auntie for your capture of the 'wee fish' delivery. Very worrying to read about the pine martin. Well spotted Alicat.
Clutches have been lost to pine martins from this nest before. Pine martins have actually lived in the main structure of the nest!

Morning everyone. This pine martin sighting is very alarming. I was unaware of their previous history at LG. On another matter, has anyone else noticed that the Loch Garten Ospreys group has disappeared from the 'Forums' tab in the Community section of the website? I think it was under this tab, either that or the 'Groups' tab. I have the daily udates and weekly chat pages bookmarked but it is difficult for newcomers to find us and join in...... It also gave the number of members in the group. Where did it go?
