Mating at 7.20am

Yes, he certainly really gets stuck into the task, doesn't he? That's another reason for males having larger feet than females, I suppose, others being better balance while mating, stronger feet for aerial battles and catching fish. Anyway, Odin can really use them well when it comes to egg cup digging! ;-)
Smiles, Jan.
Thanks to All on Night Duty: EJ (??) on the nest now, preening and looking around in morning sunlight, lovely!
That nest cup is getting seriously deep now.
Hi Tiger, yes, she has just flown off, and now you can see clearly that its both deep in the middle and more 'built up' at the sides than last year.
She came back for 30 seconds, then flew off again as if she had seen him in another tree (she was looking intently at something on the left of the screen).
Back again! Only stayed a minute this time, and did a bit of shouting and muttering.... "where is that dratted boy, now?"
Back with nest material (?) Bit of tidying and digging, then off.
Back again! More stick moving and shouting, then off.
I went to take a look at the Weekly Chat thread, and when I looked again at the nest, they were both sitting together. (post mating??) Very comical without the sound, as both had their beaks moving - "don't put that stick there" - "why not? and anyway, you have brought far too much moss...."
Odin now flown off again. So must I, to start my day.
