Last year  I asked where the  center is located when I am looking at the  computer screen. Someone said it would be  behind me. It looks like they moved the camera. Is it possible the staff is coming in to work  and that is what Odin sees?

Barbara Jean  If you put "Loch Garten" into Google maps you will find Loch Garten. Then zoom in on the satellite view of the north east of the lake and you will see the center.

  • Thanks Tiger!!

Is it the  building with the  walking path   toward the  lake?

Barbara Jean  Yes that is it. I think that clearing to the north of the center is where the nest is.

  • If the trenching for mains supply is continuing the birds could be reacting to unusual human activity - especially this morning after the bank hol break - though surely Odin would not remember what is "usual" from last year?!?

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Just caught sight of EJ when I came online, but she's flown now.  Nice to see that the snow has melted at last.

  • I have not been to LG, since  visits in the 1960's and 70's, so this image is  based on my web experience. The Centre is on the left and the nest and nest cam and camera tree are on the right. Please compare to Google Earth to get your bearings and happy to be corrected if not accurate.

The flight path of tagged birds like Rothes and Mallachie, also show the dense criss-crossings of lines marking the nest and their favourite tree perches. You need to have the GE 'kml file' option working to get the lines to show.

  • It seems a rather long time to have left the nest empty and available for intruders.  Unless they are on the camera tree nearby and watching.  Or else they can hear the noise which I think would be quite loud and echo ey and maybe putting them off.

Everything in life is speaking in spite of its apparent silence.

  • The nest looks almost abandoned!!    (at this moment in time that is)

  • jsb  Very good evidence. I feel sure you are right.
