Happy Easter all!
OK. So EJ and Odin safely at LG, but what has happened to the LOTL cam. Haven't been able to get anything. It looks like it's going to load okay, then you get just a black screen. Let's hope they get it sorted soon. Margobird said they'd had horrible weather there yesterday, so maybe that knocked out something.
Well, I missed Odin's arrival but thanks to BigRab, there's a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4EoYaRO6js which I plan to watch myself in a minute.
Busy day here, also amazed to see Trucker cam is now in Albuquerque - boy! does that guy ever cover ground. So I really have to follow him tomorrow (along with you-know-who) because I've driven that road and just love the huge wide horizons. But it's also Easter, so a bit of family stuff going on. Bought some lovely strawberries from the farm down the road and then went to supermarket and bought some naughty cheese (fattening double cream French Brie), mushrooms stuffed with all kinds of yummy stuff and simply couldn't turn down Haagen Dazs's invite to try - "at special introduction price" - new Java Chip flavor with coffee and chocolate chips. Was at Costco earlier and got some great asparagus and Wild Alaska Halibut. So we had a nice dinner, but ice cream still unopened - for now.
Annette. No need to worry. here it is. 5.21am for the shuttle and 5.23am for the ISS. See http://www.heavens-above.com/PassDetails.asp?lat=32.715&lng=-117.156&loc=San+Diego&alt=26&tz=PST&satid=25544&date=40275.5174560764

Indeed if Diana should want to view at 6.51am for the shuttle and 6.53am for the ISS it is even better for her. http://www.heavens-above.com/PassDetails.asp?lat=39.768&lng=-86.158&loc=Indianapolis&alt=222&tz=EST&satid=25544&date=40275.4556844907

I was using my car as a bird hide at the weekend, these goldies are so aggressive - sometimes a bluetit sneaks in under their noses, but they all behave when the greenfinches arrive.

I have just had another opinion that provided the Tweed Valley egg was laid on 5th April it is indeed a record early egg. Perhaps the powers that be might like to confirm this at some point.
Hi folks OG hope you're still around to get good wishes for your holiday.
Haven't been online today as competing in obedience and agility - Tweed had a first place (and 2 eliminations!) and has now moved up a grade. Nice bottle of wine with evening meal, to celebrate. I'll get back to normal tomorrow.
I thought folks may be interested in 2 photos I took of the osprey nests when visiting Loch of the Lowes and Loch Garten in 2008.
Loch Garten's shows the nest in the centre and the camera on the right.
Loch of the Lowes' shows how the nest is more sheltered among the trees. Female on left, with perching branch on right of nest
Very nice pictures they are too. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting these. Especially for those of us who do not live in Europe and will never be able to visit LG or LOTL

Great photos. Thanks, cheers, jude.
Woderful photos, AQ! Thanks for posting them. Even Google Earth can't give us a real feel for the surroundings of the respective nests. For instance, I'm sure most of us (including me) thought the camera was atop a pole or similar extension on the same tree as the nest. I'm sure we also imagined the trees to be almost solitary, instead of surrounded by other trees and vegetation. These photos are really useful.
Smiles, Jan.
Evening all:
Hey Tiger: Thanks or doing the legwork on the trajectory. Very kind of you. I'll see how I feel at 5:10 a.m.! :-) Of course, Diane probable won't have even gone to bed at that time!
TerryM. What pretty birds; thank you. So hiding out in the car? I'm probably going to have to hide in our garage if I want to catch any Orioles.
AQ: Brilliant shots of LG and LOTL. They really do help give us the lay of the land. Very interesting.
Patriciat: Good for Tweed - and you. Do you train him yourself?
They saw three whale calves today, for a total of 9 so far this season. I may try to pop down there for some extra shifts over the next week since the whales will now be closer in.
