I've started a new thread to say that the night cam is on, at 18:42!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Woo Hoo!
Awww......Chaffie is back:
Just been thru the footage since nightcam yesterday - all I found was more turf/moss being blown off the nest in a blur... at least that's something ;-)
But it looks as tho we're in for another blurry osprey season, I can't believe they've done nothing about it.
IMAGICAT
I wonder if there's anything they can do about it, Scylla. When we visited LG in 2013 we were struck by how wonderfully clear the pictures in the visitor centre were - yet the online picture from the same camera is pixellated and stop-start. I'm assuming this ongoing issue is down to the broadband connection.
It's a shame we still have that nasty buzz/hum and not real sound of the forest. Oh, Clare, you mean that lovely screen brilliantly funded by sponsorship raised by Black Jag (Brian) and his cycle ride.

Not just that lovely screen (yes, it's fantastic, isn't it?) but also on the smaller screens off to the left hand side. You'd think that if the problems were down to LG then all of their screens would be showing a less than brilliant picture.
I wonder if Black Jag's doing a cycle ride this year?
Clare about right. The feed in the centre comes directly via cable from the nest. The Webcam comes over the Internet and hence the reason when cam is down for viewers it is all up and running in the hide and centre and they genuinely don't always know that viewers have lost sight.
All those who have visited the LG Osprey Centre will know that it is in a very beautiful and tranquil situation, but really is right out in the sticks. I don't know much about the techie side of things, but I would imagine the broadband connection is over a phone line, which is bound to be a considerable distance from the nearest exchange or other connection point, and will surely affect the quality of the transmission. There do seem to be fairly regular problems with the Centre's internet.
The broadband connection there is known to be terrible. They are in a seriously out-of-the-way place so I imagine a good broadband connection is something they could well be waiting many more years for. It's a real shame as LG is a particularly special nest.
