WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2015

Happy New Week all

  • Hello All - I have not been on for a couple of days but have kept up with all the news.  The weather has been very strange today, beautiful blue sky and sunshine to start with but we have had some very heavy snow showers this afternoon.  Went to the Physiotherapist on Tuesday afternoon about my knee but as it is still really painful   after trying different things she is now signing me off and I will go on the waiting list to see the consultant at Raigmore Hospital, I think there is a waiting list of 5 months. My knee is really awful now, so painful that I am limping all the time, I am fed up with it.

I went into Dingwall today to collect my laptop from the computer repair shop as it has had a fault for a long time where it just won't start up, it says on the screen 'starting  windows' and then nothing happens. This has been going on for ages and it has been to the shop several times, this time he reinstalled Windows completely and told me it was working fine. So I got home, switched on and guess what? it would'nt start. I have tried over and over but no good. I am feeling at the end of my tether over it, as I was hoping to take it on holiday when I go down to visit my family. It is a fairly new computer too, I had only had it a year when it started all this trouble.

Diane and Annette - I have enjoyed reading about your various bird visitors, so different from ours. Annette, I do hope you do not have to stop using your fountain. Diane, I hope your weather improves soon, all that snow must be getting tiresome now.

Clare - Do hope you have some luck with the latest interview.

Heather -  I do hope your OH's eyes will improve soon, it must be a worry for him.  I also hope you will get some results with Sheana's tests soon.

Tina - what a time you are having with your tooth, hope you will get it sorted soon.

Best wishes to everyone else that I have'nt mentioned .

  • Found this from April 2011 while sorting archive - not long now!  (I may have posted it before, if so, apologies!)

Didn’t post yesterday – and it’s very quiet on here without Linda! Thinking of her and her OH: I hope they have less rain than the last time they went!

We seem to have kept occupied, but not sure how! Yesterday we re-potted some young shrubs in the morning and I went for blood tests in the afternoon; got blood pressure check too: down a bit at last and phlebotomist noticed I have lost some weight, which made me feel a lot better! Strange weather in the last 24 hours: cold day, hot night, colder day – but with some sunshine mixed with showers; looks set to continue changeable. Toady was cleaning day and while OH did the bathrooms and vacuumed, I ran around with a duster, because Daughter#1 is coming on Saturday. I also did some ironing and we cleared some paperwork too, and made some necessary appointments. Got to buy food tomorrow, but keeping it simple.

Lynette – I agree about being not being baptised a second time, although when J did and he explained his reasoning, I understood where he was coming from. Sounds as if your daughter is still working hard at other jobs, so I hope she is not too disheartened about the job she lost. Pleased you got up to speed at the gym on Tuesday, and hope today went well.

Annette – previous attempt at the tooth was amalgam (only kind allowed on NHS), and I think I must have swallowed it. Don’t want a repeat of that, so got a temporary one this time and will see if I can get a white permanent one to replace it. I hope your “at home day” was productive with the paperwork etc. Sorry about possible fountain ban – inevitable I suppose with drought having gotten so bad. I hope you had another good meet-up with coffee Friend today, and will have a good drive back with guinea-pig tomorrow – and enjoy your chats with him until you also leave for AZ.

Clare – I agree with others who commend forthright and direct honesty in the workplace: carry on being true to yourself! Pleased you picked up good vibes at the interview today, and that it seems a good company.

Tina – pleased I am not the only one with “difficult teeth”! I get fed up with people assuming it’s all my own fault, when I know the facts, which they don’t! I hope there is a viable Plan B for you.

Heather – pleased to see your OH watched TV without the specs – surely this is a good sign?

Brenda – sounds like a productive trip yesterday after the car service.

Rita – sorry the knee has become so bad; I hope you will get seen soon at the hospital. I had to wait years, as I was young when it started, and the GP said he couldn’t refer me for a replacement. Sorry the computer shop has not been successful with the lap-top.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hello, Everyone! Well, we are here at last and had a reasonable journey yesterday, apart from the plane which my OH described as "ancient" to the obvious horror of the couple sitting next to me, but what he meant was that the seats were uncomfortable and far too close together! which results in his having a journey where he can't sit properly with his long legs. We did as usual, ask for aisle seats so that he can stretch them out for some of the time, thank goodness. Found dry weather when we arrived but not as warm as we hoped: apparently the whole area has had cloudy skies for some weeks. Went out for a nice Italian meal ( had lasagne) last night and fell into bed, pooped, at 9.30pm! Met some old friends who also holiday here, and we said that we have brought sunshine with us - they laughed, but today has been the best day for weather for ages! although there is a lot of wind, which makes combing your hair redundant LOL!!
  • Rita - Sorry to hear about your knee - that's no fun, waiting in a queue. Tina - commiserations re the tooth problem. Bad luck :-( Clare - I still have everything crossed for you - hang on in there! I was always a mixture of personalities in the office - quiet and willing, but never a pushover when it came to fighting my corner! I've never forgotten the advice of a friend - she stays on good terms with almost everyone in her life, including some who have crossed her in the past - she says that if you can look beyond any problems you may have with them, you may still get your own way in other things, and it may even be to your advantage to try to keep on their side. (This does not, however, apply to her ex husbands, LOL!)
  • Great to hear from you LINDA, and thanks to all for posts xx Replies tomorrow all being well. I have been out today, hair this morning then shopping. Sheana phoned last night at 9.45, desperate to see me and tell me what is happening:-( All being well, OH will take me to the Home tomorrow. Her nephew says that if evening/night phone calls continue, he will request that her phone is unplugged at night.,I'm inclined to agree, phone calls during the night tend to scare me a bit, first thought is about the grandchildren.

OH has been having some gastric symptoms and has heard today that he has appointment for endoscopy next Tuesday.

  • Clare, Pleased to hear that you feel that your interview went well. Hope you don't have to wait long for an invite for the second interview.

Annette, Thanks for the laugh of the large bird. I made a similar mistake last week. I spotted this bird, at the top of a very tall tree, silhouetted against the setting sun. When I looked through the binoculars, it was a fluffed up wood pigeon, but hey, it was a bird LOL

Rita, So sorry your knee pain has now become even worse and you could have to wait. Rules are that you have to be seen by the consultant within 18 weeks, but then of course, if he puts you on the list, there is a further wait. I do hope you are seen quickly. I hope your GP marked you as urgent.

OG, 2011, the year of Tore and Bynack. I do love to see photographs from previous years. Thank you. Good news about your blood pressure. In spite of your health problems, you always seem to be active and have mentioned that you have been walking, whenever possible, so maybe not so surprising that you have lost some weight :-))
We have had heavy rain for most of the day, but a frosty night forecast,

  • Linda, Glad the weather is improving and you have met up with your friends. No more cooking, washing, ironing, HW for three weeks.  Sheer Heaven.

  • Heather, I do feel so sorry for Sheana, but you can't let the night calls continue. You will become stressed yourself. It is awful when the phone wakes you up and then you can't get back to sleep.
Sorry your OH is in need of an endoscopy. I am sure he is not looking forward to that, but obviously necessary.
    Take care. X

  • Hi all,

Lindy - forgot to say, "have a lovely break"

OG and Annette - Dau's problems started with her written work (ie. folders etc) being behind but she has never been a fast writer and plods on until done. Apparently the Manager wasn't happy with the way things were being done and she also clashed (personality) with one member of the staff . What with one thing and another things came to a head - she was suspended through an email during half-term when the Pre-School doesn't operate and that was the last straw.  Feels a lot happier now she has resigned and is just waiting to see how things go with the other job she is in, hoping to get cover work as well as still working at the After-Schools club. It will all work out in the end.

Read all your news . Managed to get up to speed again today.

Heard from a friend from church that one of our members' husband is gravely ill. He was found to have a rare brain tumour and had begun radiotherapy, contracted an infection but was eventually sent home.  However he is now back in hospital with pnemonia and is very poorly - even talking about the possibility of going into a hospice. Rather sad really as he seemed an active man. Both had been widowed so it was their second marriage.

  • Heather - you seem to be going through the mill a bit but those night-time calls must stop. I know what it is like to have a call late at night, you really think the worse. In my case it was but that was many years ago after we lost our 2nd child, that's in the past now.  Ever since then though I have always dreaded phone calls late evening if not planned. Hope your OH's endoscopy goes alright, he will hardly remember anything about it. I had one done plus one at the bottom end about 3 years back because there might have been a problem, gastric wise. Turned out OK though. So good luck.

Rita - see that you are having problems with your knee, do hope it can be resolved quickly.

Been rainy for most of the day but cleared up in the afternoon.  Wintry weather forecast for the weekend.  At least Lindy will be in warmer climes.
