FEBRUARY - The days may be getting longer, but it is still our coldest month. Just a wonderful month to curl up and snooze until our osprey arrive back in Scotland. - - and Wales and England. I don't know of any in Ireland.
WendyB has recently given us a link to an Albatross family cam which should prove entertaining as we continue our countdown to the arrival of EJ and Odin. With Keith on Bioko Island for he month, he may have a few adventures to share with us.
Let us remember that February is the month of romance, too.
My streetwalk tracking of Keith's latest travels left him in Paris. I must get him to his next stop - Douala, Camaroon.
He said that Douala is only a short hop to his final destination of Malabo on Bioko Island. Indeed considering the distance he has already come, it seems a very short hop.
Note the country of Equatorial Guinea to the south of Cameroon. Although Malabo is off the coast of Cameroon, it is the capitol city of the small country of Equatorial Guinea.
So how did you finally get to Malabo, Keith? Plane, boat, swim or jump? :)
The far nest/ Temp 84F at 5:30 pm at Kilauea, Hawaii.
Earlier I saw a black bird in the distance, but didn't have time(or maybe patience) to wait for it to come closer. I think now it was one of these hens.

There are many ospreys on the Cameroon coast and many of them in the bay around Douala - many of these see there way accross to Bioko. We know of two close to us on the northern coast that have been wintering here and the conservationists are going to take me to them at the weekend. The southern coast will have to wait for a wekk.
I am being taken out tomorrow evening to see Equatorial Guinea versus Ghana in the semi final of the African Nations Cup at the Stadium of Malabo. looking forward to this as a few premier league players on view. They are expecting a big crowd.
Sounds like you have an interesting week lined up, Keith. Probably an interesting month, too Enjoy!
PS You know we expect reports - and pictures if possible. Stay out of trouble. :)
