Happy New Week all.
Big surprise this morning!!! Heard a knock on the front door at 8:15 and thought it was the neighbor who'd just had a load of bricks delivered to their driveway, but NO!! It was my granddaughter, with a basket of flowers, champagne, scones she'd baked plus jars of lemon and raspberry curd on a spur-of-the-moment trip to celebrate my birthday early!! I was amazed and thrilled. She had a few days off what with shift changes, etc., and since we don't get to spend a lot of "just us" time, she decided to drive here to spend a day with me and OH without the rest of the family buzzing about. She even made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Montecito! You can't believe how thrilled I was - and so happy - what a special treat. She's off to her Mom's tomorrow (daughter is not aware she's in town at all, so that'll be another unexpected treat) and they'll spend the day together before she drives back to Arizona on Monday. So happy!
Will respond to posts tomorrow, but in the meantime, take care everyone. :-)))))
Daisy the EBT that lives with us as you can see has an inappropriate name for the breed.... but it suits her:-)
Her Mum was Lupin and I think all the girls were given flower names apart from one who became Princess.
Her full name is Driving Miss Daisy but basically answers to anything as long as it is the right tone of voice!!!
Good luck to all those aquiring a puppy... Never been in at that stage and not sure I would have the patience. She does have her cage but it's just her quiet place next to a radiator and with fluffy throws over it and a single duvet I side. Also " mummy" a large pillowy lion she has had from day one.
Good evening. A duller day here – and I am bored! Can’t be quite well yet – I fell asleep after breakfast and washing up this morning! I made some birthday cards this afternoon. Nothing else to report!
Good to have news of Gary – he always was an optimist where weather is concerned; good to see he still has the lovely Miss Toffee!
Wendy - I thought Daisy was really called “Daisy May” – is that just an extra endearment?
Linda - thanks for asking after J – he too is still coughing, but managing work with his Wednesdays off, so never more than two days to work.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
OG the lengthening days will surely help on your recovery..
Oh Yes it's Daisy May .... Ubberpie ( don't ask) and various other names but as I said she will answer to anything said in the right tone.,,
Hello All - Had a busy day today, sent in my BG Birdwatch results but did not have as many birds visiting as I had expected, that always happens, it was raining at the time, so that tends to keep the birds away. I have started on the first batch of my marmalade, I try to make enough to last the whole year, I really enjoy making it. It takes a long time to cut up all the peel but I watch television while I do it.
All this talk of dog's names, Amber is called 'Amber Rose Stitch'. My little grandson went with me to collect her from the breeder in Cumbria and I said he could choose her middle name, so straight away he said 'Stitch'! which apparently was the name of a little character in one of his favourite TV programmes! so 'Stitch'she became. Rose was because we thought we might call her Rosie.
Wendy - We had a Dalmatian once called Liza but we called her Daisy a lot of the time, it seemed to suit her, most of our dogs have been called by more than one name!
Here is Tapaidh. First class okay - a bit like herding cats....but we will get there.
Lmac - she is gorgeous! Glad the first class went ok.

Oh, Wow! Lmac - what a beauty. Good luck with the training.
OG, You are obviously not as well as you said. These " bugs " do seem to be very sapping to peoples energy levels. You do need to rest. When you find you are suffering from 'cabin fever, ' you will know you are truly recovered. I hope J completely recovers soon. I also hope that EE remains free of all your germs. Do take care X
