WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, 2015

Happy New Week all.

Big surprise this morning!!!  Heard a knock on the front door at 8:15 and thought it was the neighbor who'd just had a load of bricks delivered to their driveway, but NO!!  It was my granddaughter, with a basket of flowers, champagne, scones she'd baked plus jars of lemon and raspberry curd on a spur-of-the-moment trip to celebrate my birthday early!!  I was amazed and thrilled. She had a few days off what with shift changes, etc., and since we don't get to spend a lot of "just us" time, she decided to drive here to spend a day with me and OH without the rest of the family buzzing about.  She even made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Montecito!   You can't believe how thrilled I was - and so happy - what a special treat.  She's off to her Mom's tomorrow (daughter is not aware she's in town at all, so that'll be another unexpected treat) and they'll spend the day together before she drives back to Arizona on Monday.   So happy!

Will respond to posts tomorrow, but in the meantime, take care everyone.  :-)))))

  • I saw the snow was spreading down the country, Linda. When it is snowing I make a shelter for the ground feeding birds, to try and prevent the snow covering the bird seed. I hope you don't get too much snow.

  • Lindybird you be careful - do,you think OH will continue with his round of golf.

  • Feel as if I'm going into battle whenever I post! This tablet keeps mangling my words - I have to go back and proof read every time! Also, doesn't always post, this week. Good to hear from you, Margo, hope you're managing to eat something to keep your strength up. My Friend is in hospital yet again today, to have a stent removed. Hopefully she will be home again by tomorrow.

I wrote before, but it didn't post, that I expected they were all in the clubhouse drinking coffee, Margo! And hes just come in saying how bad the roads are....... They had to give up on the golf when halfway round the course. By the way - we have decided on a name for our little treasure!! Thanks for the cute suggestion, Clare, but I think the tail will be fluffier when she grows! Not going to put our choice on here, yet, just in case something else sounds better, but we are already both referring to her with it.
  • Margo, I see we are included in the latest warning for snow and ice, from 3pm this afternoon. I keep telling myself to go for petrol, but I can't leave the tennis.

Linda, Pleased to read that you think that you have decided on a name for your puppy. I am sure you are going to see such a change when you see her again, so as you say , you could change your minds. I am sure Tomasz would have some good name suggestions.  Good to hear that your OH is safely home. I am sure the greenkeepers wouldn't have been happy if they had continued to play though.

  • Hello everyone, I have been enjoying all the chat and pics, thank you.

When I saw the photos of LINDYs new best friend I just wanted to cuddle her, the expression in her eyes brought a lump to my throat. I have only ever had cats, OH's dog Spud died a few years before I arrived on the scene. Would I be correct in saying that a dog gives unconditional love and a cat likes to keep you on the edge of your seat so to speak? I always felt that even in their curled up my lap and purry, jumper kneading moments the cats were looking after their own interests they were, without a doubt the ones in charge!!

We have snow here and a sky that can't make up it's mind whether to be light or dark. The street lights tend to get quite confused.

Better go and get lunch things organised. Nothing fancy, egg mayonnaise. Just realised this morning that the eggs are coming to the end of their useful life.

    Take care all.

  • We love both dogs and cats, Heather. The only reason we don't have a cat at present is since we moved here, we don't have a cat friendly neighbour to feed one whilst we're away. I know what you mean they are different - you know the saying " Dogs have owners, cats have staff!!!"
  • Yay!! Andy did come up with the right moves in the end after frightening us for a bit. My OH has been out to refill the Niger seed feeder, as there were some hungry looking sparrows hanging around and pecking at it......we do have two Goldies who come but I think most of their friends go next door!
  • I can go out now. LOL

Heather, Sounds as if you have plenty of snow. Take care.  Lucky you having street lights. We don't have any at all, for miles. We always carry torches.
