Happy New Week all.
Big surprise this morning!!! Heard a knock on the front door at 8:15 and thought it was the neighbor who'd just had a load of bricks delivered to their driveway, but NO!! It was my granddaughter, with a basket of flowers, champagne, scones she'd baked plus jars of lemon and raspberry curd on a spur-of-the-moment trip to celebrate my birthday early!! I was amazed and thrilled. She had a few days off what with shift changes, etc., and since we don't get to spend a lot of "just us" time, she decided to drive here to spend a day with me and OH without the rest of the family buzzing about. She even made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Montecito! You can't believe how thrilled I was - and so happy - what a special treat. She's off to her Mom's tomorrow (daughter is not aware she's in town at all, so that'll be another unexpected treat) and they'll spend the day together before she drives back to Arizona on Monday. So happy!
Will respond to posts tomorrow, but in the meantime, take care everyone. :-)))))
I escaped to city to library for research as it is OH's rostered nanny-duty day. So relaxed I nearly dozed off on bus coming home LOL. I still have 3 free hours before OH returns and only a quick tea to prepare. Quick? No point getting too elaborate as he will be almost too tired to eat.
Kersbrook school, affected by recent bushfire, was given a boost yesterday. People of Pt Lincoln collected cash & spent it on new sports equipment & new trees. Classrooms had been saved but sheds with sporting equipment & shade trees burnt. A koala with burnt feet was successfully released into wild after treatment. He raced up the gum tree!
evening all; Busy day here; will catch up tomorrow.
Lindybird said:Wish I could put them on here, dibnlib! She is cuteness beyond cute!! All eyes and ears at the moment, but a tiny upright tail which never stops wagging! We are getting a lot of suggestions for names for her, from relatives, most of which are most unsuitable LOL!!! Suppose I could always name her "Fang!".........
She sounds absolutely adorable!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Snow, snow and more snow! Extensive school closures, and J's place of work appeared in the online listing just before he would have set out. Can't report to his nearest alternative, as all the local schools are also closed today.
Back later.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Good Morning Everyone. Dry, sunny and cold here this morning. I was thinking of you this morning OG, when I saw the early news and it mentioned D & G. You won't be venturing out today, then. Take care. Also thinking of you all in Scotland, N. Ireland. N. England. Forecast shows plenty more snow to come.
I am watching the Murray semi-final, Australian Open. Andy just lost the first set, 7-6 ( tie- breaker)
EDIT 10.30am. Murray takes the 2nd set 6 - 0
Good morning all and special thoughts to OG, Heather, rita, Wendy and george as I know you are having a lot of snow. Hope you stay warm and safe and do not have to venture out. Brigh and sunny here with a chilly wind. Had 3 attempts at the bird count. Had allotted time but the the garden was completely bereft of birds a couple of times but eventually at the third attempt we had some lucjpkmand looking back to last year the count was about the the same.
george hope you have had Diesel's test results back and the vet will be able to help him. It is costly but when you have a pet you want to look after them, have been thinking of you both. Must be a worry for SIL and yourself but such an improvement in the way treatments are discussed with patients these days. Hope she will have a good recovery.
Annette pleased to read granddaughter arrived home safe and sound after her surprise visit. A very pleasant time had by all.
Lindybird can tell how thrilled you both are with the prospect of having a puppy in the home. I am sure she will enjoy visiting Wales with you. All those long beaches to explore and running around. She is certainly very appealing. I am sure she will lover new bed and the toys that you will smuggle in. Hope your OH enjoys his golf.
Heather love the name Spud, it would appear it is not unusual for them to be gun shy. I expect he had a wonderful life with your OH.
AQ must have been a treat to gain an hour or somewhen your daughter took them to playgroup but it sounds as though they kept you busy on their return. You must welcome the cooler days you are getting. Heartwarming tPM read about the koala being returned to the wild after treatment for burnt feet But I wonder how many perished.
Lynette pleased you enjoyed your Burns supper. Had a holiday in Edinburgh many years ago and tried haggis but was not keen on it at all. Apologies to our Scottish friends.
Brenda I have been following the westher in the US and watching various webcams. Forecasters say this will not head our way but the North and Scotland seems to be pretty bad this morning. Snap I am watching the tennis and Murray did get the second set and appears to have more control somgpfingers crossed. Would not be surprised if it went to 5 sets now. Enjoy the Lindor which OH kindly put in your basket.
OG hope your are feeling a lot better and J's cough is easing. Just seen your latest post and the westher sounds horrendous. Hope their is no need for you, EE or J to venture out today.
diane pleased to read that your area was not part of the big storm.
Starling hope you will post some pics of your new puppy.
Lmac Tapaidh is just lovely, look at these eyes.
rita love homemade marmalade, used to have a friend who made pots and pots each year which people would buy and she would give the money to charity, sadly she passed away a couple of years ago and so it was back to marmalade from the shops.
Andy Murray playing well now and up 2 sets to 1.
Have a safe and warm day all.
