WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, 2015

Happy New Week all.

Big surprise this morning!!!  Heard a knock on the front door at 8:15 and thought it was the neighbor who'd just had a load of bricks delivered to their driveway, but NO!!  It was my granddaughter, with a basket of flowers, champagne, scones she'd baked plus jars of lemon and raspberry curd on a spur-of-the-moment trip to celebrate my birthday early!!  I was amazed and thrilled. She had a few days off what with shift changes, etc., and since we don't get to spend a lot of "just us" time, she decided to drive here to spend a day with me and OH without the rest of the family buzzing about.  She even made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Montecito!   You can't believe how thrilled I was - and so happy - what a special treat.  She's off to her Mom's tomorrow (daughter is not aware she's in town at all, so that'll be another unexpected treat) and they'll spend the day together before she drives back to Arizona on Monday.   So happy!

Will respond to posts tomorrow, but in the meantime, take care everyone.  :-)))))

  • george so sorry Diesel is still having problems, Do hopeope the tests will help and appropriate treatment can be given. Will be thinkinng of you.

  • Lindybird what a little beauty, just such a sweet face.

Hello all, will post tomorrow hope you are all well a safe.

  • It was snowing very hard when I woke up this morning, so I went out and did all my shopping before Breakfast as it was forecast to snow all day.   Since then it has snowed on and off all the time but it is very wet snow and has not settled on the ground much.  Still making marmalade and have also made a huge shepherds pie and divided it into single portions for the freezer.       Could not do any washing up after breakfast as I simply could'nt find the sink plug anywhere, was wondering if I could contrive a makeshift plug when I spied it in Amber's bed!!

  • LOL Rita. You still love her though :-))

  • Hey! Puppies! Just what I needed on a wintry day!

Rita – when OH recorded our Big Garden Birdwatch results, he got some discount from the catalogue: did everyone get that, or was it the first few? Our weekend count was actually a bit disappointing, but today was much better for our weekly BTO count: someone had told the birds the bad weather was coming, so they came for a fill-up feast! We had a Daisy once, but ours was a cat – sister of Fred and Bert; she was a very pretty little tortoiseshell.

Lmac – Tapaidh is beautiful; those deep Spaniel eyes. It looks as if she is now into the “leggy” phase of puppyhood, and probably full of energy too. I do agree about Spaniels being “needy”, but they do reward all the companionship they demand. Is your OH’s Gaelic fluency due to being brought up a Gaelic-speaker, or learning it efficiently?

AQ – so pleased the small two had some sleep after playgroup; a pity the second one fell asleep on your lap rather than in her cot; makes my arms ache with cramp thinking about it – they can be such a weight when sleeping! Glad you had some time with Miss3, too; I hope she enjoyed her time with others her age at playgroup.

Linda – Puppy looks quite inquisitive in the first photo! Pleased you found a way to show us. You will see such a change in her at your next visit; what a pity you had holiday booked and can’t have her sooner.

George – I seem to have missed some posts from you; I was sorry to read today that Diesel is feeling so poorly. I hope today’s tests have been conclusive and the vet diagnoses something not too serious and not too costly! Also, sorry about your SiL – the op does sound rather scary, but I am sure she will have good care. I read on the news that Tesco in Kikcaldy is one of the ones closing; do you shop there?

Brenda – what a lovely gesture of your OH adding Lindor to the trolley! I am sure I knew someone with a dog called Truffle – but can’t remember the breed.

We had several short showers of the non-sticking wet snow this morning, interspersed with weak sunshine, but true to the forecast we had a heavy fall of real clinging stuff in the evening rush-hour. It was very windy, and is still lying there about 2.5 cm thick, although no longer falling. Could be quite slick by morning.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Yes Brenda, I do - could not do without her.

  • Hi OG, brought up on the Outer Hebrides and fluent from young age.

  • How lovely - I love to hear Gaelic spoken, even if I only understand a few words!  I did try classes, but like any language, you need to be practicing all the time to become any good at speaking it!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Thanks Lindybird, you have reminded me to do mine.

Just flicking through all the posts at present. Thanks for all your news.  Nothing much happening here - usual gym visits Tues and Thurs. We are now looking round for a second hand 3pce suite as we have had the present one about 15 years and it has got a bit worn around the edges due to our cats enjoying scratching the furniture. Still, its an excuse for a "new" one for us.

  • Hello George, sorry to hear about Diesel, do hope the vet can pinpoint what is the matter with him. I am sure your SiL will feel much better after the kidney is removed. My DiL has been living with one kidney for years now and is doing fine.  Hope all goes well for you.

Lindy - the puppy is adorable.
