Happy New Week all.
Big surprise this morning!!! Heard a knock on the front door at 8:15 and thought it was the neighbor who'd just had a load of bricks delivered to their driveway, but NO!! It was my granddaughter, with a basket of flowers, champagne, scones she'd baked plus jars of lemon and raspberry curd on a spur-of-the-moment trip to celebrate my birthday early!! I was amazed and thrilled. She had a few days off what with shift changes, etc., and since we don't get to spend a lot of "just us" time, she decided to drive here to spend a day with me and OH without the rest of the family buzzing about. She even made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant in Montecito! You can't believe how thrilled I was - and so happy - what a special treat. She's off to her Mom's tomorrow (daughter is not aware she's in town at all, so that'll be another unexpected treat) and they'll spend the day together before she drives back to Arizona on Monday. So happy!
Will respond to posts tomorrow, but in the meantime, take care everyone. :-)))))
Thank you for all the comments re my puppy. I am looking forward to getting him but it is tinged with awful sadness as I have just recently lost my lovely dog.

Annette so love a happy ending.
Next doors Collie X had puppies and Sally decided to have them in the very open plan combine harvester store. Neighbour cleaned up the next door barn and moved them there ... next morning all located back to combine store and there they stayed:-)
Back again!
Brenda – thanks for asking – J and I are both still coughing, but it’s gradually getting less, just rather tiring.
Wendy – good to know Daisy seems so well stabilised now. Sounds like a very pleasant time out today – worth braving the cold for the Cresties.
Annette – that is such wonderful news about the wee Terrier! So glad you took him in rather than just leaving him to wander. We like happy endings!
Rita – stay safe, going to your meeting in the city tomorrow.
That same message for everyone – stay safe and keep warm!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Lindybird: Very clever and sweet verse - and I bet it only two two minutes!
Starling: sorry you had to say goodbye to your dog, but your new friend will be very lucky and will do a lot to lift your spirits.
WendyB; Re newborn puppies, I've heard of location, location, location, but this is ridiculous! :-)
George: Let us know how Diesel is doing?
OG/Starling/Heather: Take care on those icy roads.
We seemed to have evolved into a dog-chat site! :-)

Hello Annette. I am a Lurker on this thread but just had to comment on this fantastic story! By the way enjoying all the puppy and cat stories. " Like" many times over!
Lindybird you have excelled yourself yet again.
Annette what a happy ending and all down to you.
Starling so sorry that you recenly lost your dog. I am sure that bundle of cute will help you get over the loss but you will have happy memories to look back on in time.
Lindybird and Starling, you must be so excited and you will not sleep the night before you pick up your babies. I remember when I got my puppy years ago now, shes now since gone but lived till she was 16 years old! You will have a long and happy future together!:)
