RUTLAND OSPREY PROJECT 2015

Oh no, more squabbling and can see one chick pounding #3.  Maya is blocking so don't know why or what elder. #3 goes into submission pose but is quickly up again and all appears quiet now.  

The chicks are restless.  33 needs to deliver a fish as Maya needs a fish at talon to feed and keep the peace.  

Fascinating ... I thought there had been a fish delivery but no.   Maya has improvised to settle the chicks.  She has a piece of bark which she pretends to be ripping and mock feeding the chicks!

#3 is not having a good day.  An attack from #2 and #3 goes into submission.

Maya reaches for bark and #3 is soon up again and none the worse.      Just now, #2 appears the very restless one . 

Unfortunately all part of growing up on a nest but Maya really needs a fish from 33.

Thanks Karen I peaked in 20 mins ago and two elders were preening and 3 was the other side of the cup from them sleeping. Maybe he was snoring, sqweeing in his sleep or some other minor misdemeanour to provoke the wrath of 2.

All now snuggled happily together using mum as a parasol.

All sleeping now at Maya's feet.  

As they grow it is becoming more difficult to separate #1 and #2.  The only slight difference I can see just now is that #2 has a little more white down its forehead and the nape of its neck is still greyish.  But that will change soon :-)

Well the peace didn't last long.  #2 and #3 going at it hammer and tong again.  #3 pushes and they both roll down into the nest cup.  I wonder if #2 feels threaten by #3?  Anyway, then #1 got up and gave #3 a pounding.

Maya reaches for her bark piece which distracts the chicks and they move towards her.
