Hi all!
Linda, I was surprised when I visited my son to find they have an electric blanket that fits over the top of their dog's cage overnight. She did get cold when she first became ill with the meningitis, so they don't take any chances now, especially as she had the recent relapse.
OG, Keep your eye on J. My daughter said that she had a viral infection, for a whole week. She then started vomiting and perforated one ear. Anyhow she finished up having to take AB's. Her hearing hasn't fully recovered yet. I told her she should have listened to her mother !!! Take care of yourself.
Hunkered down for the night.. App says its minus 7...
Daisy's night time cage is by a radiator and covered in snugly blankets:-)
As for heating it's all paid for in advance that is the logs and the oil and with no mains gas we only have the surprise electricity bill.
The only saving grace is evenings are getting slightly longer.
Annette so pleased I gave you a memory lane diversion .
So you are all cold. We are expecting 'only' 31 C today. However I am sending some heat over - you can share it amongst yourselves!
Off to nanny duty today. Nor sure how I have been filling past days. I made pasties yesterday - they will be easy for OH to have ready for meal when I get home this eve. Oh, yes, on Sunday I took myself to an old church and after the service I photo-ed the stained glass windows. Then dashed around to another denomination as the people were leaving to capture theirs. Due to vandals most churches are rarely open.
I have an oil fired Rayburn in the kitchen which is very warm and keeps the chill off the whole house at night, and Amber sleeps right beside it, so she keeps lovely and warm.
Stay warm all (or cool if you're in OZ)
Good Morning. We are having our first snow of this winter and it is sticking.
Hello all
I hope that OG is feeling better this morning. AQ- please send some warmth! I heard on the radio that the South East was going to be cold, and the east coast of England. Stay warm, folks! OH is going to a Probus Club 'Burns Lunch' today and he asked me rather hopefully if I thought that any of his waistcoats would fit. I didn't really need to reply...
After reading about RITAs Rayburn and WENDY'S woodburner I loaded a free app onto my Kindle. I can now look at a crackling log fire! Yes, I know I'm crazy :-)))
Good morning all at long last. Started off very bright and sunny with a severe frost but is now cloudy with some white stuff falling. Have been to defrost the bird baths again and could not believe how bitterly cold it is.
Thinking of Heather, rita, Wendy, OG, dibnlib and george and hope you are all managing to stay warm and taking great care if you have to go out.
Another course of chemo over and I can get back to normal again. Unfortunately my potassium level was a bigh so had to have another blood test by which time it had gone back down. It seems that I need to drink at least 3 litres of fluids every day but I must admit I am finding it difficult to get that much down me. I also find that the anti sick pills given make me terribly constipated. Bit of a cleft stick as chemo upsets my stomach and the pills have the opposite affect. I get terrible stomach cramps and then find it difficult to eat. It will sort itself out eventually.
I read with interest and some sympathy all the comments on care homes etc. I consider we were very luckily that Mum and Dad lived their life out in their own home. I would have found it very difficult if this had not been the case.
Billie decided to come out in sympathy with me last week when her skin problem returned. Took her to the vet and he is feeling pretty sure it is a food allergy and we are now trying out only the best we can get and she is certainly better. She had to have an AB injection and steroid injection and we are hoping that changing her food to the top quality will negate the need to keep having injections.
AQ my word how the twins have grown and they are just adorable. Hope Nanny day is not to wearing for you especially with all that heat.
Lynette hope the knee is improving and bruises going.
dibnlib thanks for the lovely pictures taken in the snow.
OG poor you and J, hope you are both feeling a little better. I am sure you are keeping yourselves warm and drinking plenty. Our garden is very busy with birds during this cold spell. Hope they are still around on Saturday for the bird count.
Annette can't believe whale count is coming round again. Years just fly by when we get older. Nothing wrong with being comfortable in youtpr nightie. I often do this when I am having chemo jabs in my stomach. It gets very tender and don't want to wear anything with elastic in it. See you are a fan of Broadchurch too. We did wonder if second series would disappoint but it is just as good. I am a great fan of David Tennant and the only time I watched Dr Who was when he played the Doctor. Another bonus is he is quite good looking lol.
Lindybird that was a quick visit from your son. Hope he has a safe drive back later today. Was wondering if your poem had conpme back to you yet. Must have been very interesting to documents your father had prepared. I though Winterwatch was good last evening, especially the golden eagle. What a magnificent bird.
Rita you must have been relieved to park the car safely, it all sounds a bit dangerous. Hope things will warm up for you and there wiill be some evidence of spring flowers bursting through. At least on a bright day you can see dusk is not as early.
Heather poor Sheana and also you. Hope that awful friend does not contact you over this latest incident. You are certainly not pompous as you have good experience in these matters. Hope the home can be made aware of the problem. I do hope that Callum is eating properly now and enjoying the course.
bjane good to see you. If I rememer correctly you are coming up to retirement which you must be looking forward to. I think we all make lists, followed my another list of things we forgot on the original list lol.
Wendy pleased to read your OH has recovered. Your weather conditions seem almost Artic to me. Do take care when walking Daisy. You must be looking forward to your Lundy visit. It was on my list of things I would like to do but unfortunately heath problems meant it was a no no for me. Just pleased I did the LG volunteering when I did.
Brenda you are so right about a surfeit of good TV programmes. Somehow or other I manage to watch or record things I really want to see. Like buses again, none for ages then they all come along together. The snow did not last but looking at the sky I wouldn't be surprised if we got some. Got thevAustralian Open on at the moment and my favourite tennis player. Gael mon Fils is on court. For the first 2 sets he was awful but has come back strongly and it looks as though he could win. He is so entertaining to watch, whether he plays brilliantly or badly.
think,I have rambled on enough so have a good day all and take care.
