WEEKLY CHAT (Non-osprey) SUNDAY,JANUARY 18. 2015

Hi all!

  • Don't know what happened, there - attempted a reply!  I said LOL Clare!!  - one solution to an overcrowded Britain!!

  • Good Morning ALL.

I hope that OG and J are recovering and that EE remains healthy.

Linda, Don't worry, we know what you meant :-))  Just carry on enjoying your OH's good news.

OH's sister rang to say that their 16 year old dog, who has been ill for a few weeks, is now having another scan, to determine what could be the next step to take :-((
We saw the vet arrive at our neighbour's house yesterday afternoon, to put her 17 year old dog to sleep. I was on standby, in case she needed me. I am glad that she didn't, because I saw the dog, who was looking very alert and alive, although he has been ill for a while, barking at the vet. I would have found that very hard to witness.

We have nothing planned for today but I am going to suggest that we go out for lunch.

  • Hello All

BRENDA, I am so glad that you weren't called upon.

ANNETTE, Hi from me to you!

LINDY and Clare - your chat made me laugh this morning after a rude awakening! OH's daughter phoned, very early, in a panic, washing machine going like the clappers and kitchen filling with smoke. She didn't know who to phone so phoned her Dad. Her husband refuses to carry a mobile phone and leaves for work at 0530 so we got the call. Oh well, the joys of parenthood. Except that she is almost 58 years old. Does it ever end?

Off to see Sheana this afternoon.

I hope that BRENDA did get her lunch out.

  • We did go out, thanks, Heather. I had a steak, with mushrooms, vegetables and chips, followed by blackcurrant crumble and custard. As you can tell, I really was hungry. A typical comfort food meal.
I did laugh about your OH's daughter ringing her Dad. I didn't realise that the children would still be ringing the parents with problems at that age. LOL I hope she turned the electricity off before she rang. I hope everything was alright though.

  • Brenda - Sad about both of those dogs. We've been out, too. We had lunch at a new American Diner, which was a new experience. I had Chicken Tenders, which are crispy deep fried bits of chicken with a tasty spiced mayonnaise, and my OH had BBQ Ribs. We both shared a big dish of fries with it! No dessert! Your steak sounded good. Our children sometimes ask for advice, which we're only too happy to give. I don't think they ever stop being children, whatever age they reach! :-)
  • We rang both our sons and several other close relatives with our good news last night. Everyone was delighted of course. I think my OH is mainly relieved at the prospect of no more treatments.
  • Yummy lunches, BRENDA and LINDY !! If I had to choose it would be the blackcurrant crumble. I love blackcurrants and used to love it when Sheana gave me carte blanche to pick as many as I wanted.

LINDY You are right about giving children advice and I often get asked for advice and happily give it but OHs daughter,of whom I am very fond, didn't know what a consumer unit was. I explained what I was talking about. Then she said it was too high and she couldn't reach it. I asked her if she had a ladder, the answer was yes, but it was too heavy for her to carry!! So she expected her 84 year old father to be able to carry it...

  • Making some progress.  Got rid of some symptoms by stopping taking paracetomol - must get it recorded on my notes as something I am intolerant of.  Have suspected it for some years, but definitely proven now.  Unfortunately, I can feel the sprained wrist more now!

    Thanks for all good wishes.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG good to hear you are making some progress. Hopefully your suspicion of intolerance of paracetamol will speed the process up a bit. look after that sprained wrist and take care. Margo x

  • Hallo all:  Up and down like a yo-yo all night, so begged off volunteer caper this afternoon in favor of doing nothing other than maybe pulling a weed or two before organizing something very simple for dinner.

Heather: I thought I was a consumer unit ("a member of a household" says one search result). I think our name for those things is circuit breaker or fuse box (old fashioned, but we can't keep up with you cutting edge UK types).

Lindybird: Watch out for chicken tenders with spicy dipping sauce - not sure any country's Heart Association would approve.  :-)

Brenda: Ooooh, save some blackberry crumble for me and Heather next time.

OG: How would ibuprofen work as a sub for the paracetamol?

Time for a nap or something.... take care all
