Thanks Alan - The early birds are starting to make it north into Scotland now - I think you have reported a few sightings north of the border. Will need to start looking at a few nests local to me over the next week.

Raptor migration has been slowed at Gibraltar by a week of easterly winds
12 Mar: Clear skies with a moderate to fresh westerly. Finally after a week of easterly winds which hampered raptor migration over Gibraltar, the winds are back to west, although the peak passage of Black Kites must have gone through over the western end of the Strait. Nevertheless a good day count with 1372 Black Kites, 4 Egyptian Vultures, a Griffon Vulture, 172 Short-toed Eagles, 7 Marsh Harriers, 17 Sparrowhawks, 6 Booted Eagles, and single Lesser Kestrel and a Kestrel sp.
Perhaps this has had an impact on migrating osprey too. Does that possibly mean that those which use this route will be later than usual.
Sheila, I think it may delay the early arrivals but the vast majority will leave Africa in the next 2 weeks. It will be interesting to see if the Glaslyn and Rutland early birds are later this year.
