With this lovely video, I will say farewell to 2014 and welcome to 2015. Also best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous year for all our Forum and Gabfest friends as well as all our feathered friends, especially EJ and Odin and their 2015 family.

With any luck, someone who remembers the story of the Cornwall bird will let us know the truth of the matter, June--I just cannot remember, sorry! I had not heard about the ribbon and bow on Burns' birthplace--curious!
Kind regards, Ann

The last reported sighting of an Osprey in the UK was on 4th Jan at Gurnard's Head near Zennor on the coast of North Cornwall. Birdguides are usually careful to verify sightings.

Good morning all. Hope everyones managed to get through the storms unscathed! We are due a battering tonight! seems its our turn for natures wrath :( !
This morning on my way to work i was lucky enough to see a barn owl sitting in the middle of the road, he turned to look at me and i could clearly see his beautiful heart shaped face, he then flew off over the trees! Anyone drivind fast would have hit him. I did wonder if he was injured sitting in the road but he flew off quite happily!
Good morning all. Hope everyone got through the storms unscathed! My post did not post so forgive me if i repeat myself! We are in for a battering this evening! Its our turn to face natures wrath:(
It did post eventually! I filled up all my feeders yesterday and as soon as my back was turned a sparrowhawk made a smash and grab raid> Didnt seem to be bothered that i was there. So many blue tit and great tits on the feeders they are like flies sometimes! Many chaffinches as well but sadly no green finches.
I expect the osprey nests will be damaged by the strong winds especially those in Scotland. I think they may be repaired before they return. At least I think that has happened before! Not an easy task as the nests are so high.

Just a nice email picture
June, Lovely photo--thanks.
TJ, I could not remember if the sighting was an Osprey or not--thanks. The west country is normally the mildest part of mainland Britain, thanks to the gulf stream and they had palm trees surviving there even before global climate change!
Willow, Lucky you to see a Barn Owl! Hope you (and everyone) survive the weather with no problems!
