Another Auld Acquaintance brought to mind was a professional baker. She loved to bake and decorate cakes, thus she chose the name by which we knew her here on the Gabfest : SUGAR. She rose early and when I came online first thing in the morning she often was there watching the LG nest and posting pictures and writing wonderful word pictures. Thus I remember her not just now, but many a dewy. misty summer morn when the sun shines softly on EJ and her chicks Love you, Sugar!
Happy New Year JS & all!
Did finally decorate my quickie Christmas Cake & it did taste good - here is an unglamorous pic of cake in travelling box (to go to my Niece & family)
& not a cherry or candied peel in sight! Lol

Wendy, it is lovely! Nice and simple and beautiful! I really like your color scheme.
mine are always too busy. I try to simplify, but they come out too busy, anyway. Except maybe my Easter cake, I was satisfied with it.
And a lovely story right here in your photo as well. I am so glad you posted tonight.
Thanks JS, you are always so encouraging & unstinting in your praise ... who knows? might even make another!! Lol
Wendy, I too had a second cake in mind which has not yet been baked. I haven't given up yet. The pans are still on the kitchen counter prepared with parchment paper linings. But the chances of those pans being "unprepared" and put away are becoming greater all the time.
Hope your second cake materializes for you. :)
Good evening all. Wendy your cake looks wonderful with the nuts and fruit! Looks beautiful and very original!
Keith your cake looks lovely as well and as CC says shame to cut into it but it looks delicous! will have to try mine with wensleydale cheese! Will not be able to eat mine until i have a day off on account of alcohol content! Mine still has not been decorated so its a New Year cake! will post a pic now as we have our new allowance (gb)
Kieth that is a lovely osprey whisky flask! what a collection of Whisky you have!

Willow, glad to see you!!! I was just about to post you and Fish as not so Auld Acquaintances ne're to be forgot. That pesky allowance!!
I like your answer to Wendy. You are using words that escaped me. Very original, yes!
Mulberry, I'm bringing your comment from the main Gabfest forward here. Hope you don't mind.
"The Bar Alba? See the streetwalk on new years eve 2 yrs ago June. What fun we had!
Happy New Year everyone."
Yes Mulberry I was remembering something like that, but only vaguely. I will have to look up the thread you cite for details. Thanks for bringing it up. That is what New Years Eve is for, to remember good times past and yes we did have many of them.
Its a lovely night for the festivities no rain and thin cloud so the moon can be seen poking through and a gentle mild wind blowing, perfect!
