Tis the season to be merry . . .
Did you hear about the Primary School Nativity Play? Two children are dressed as Mary and Joseph, and they are on their way to the inn in Bethlehem.Meanwhile on the other side of the stage, a lad in a shepherd's outfit is on a mobile phone, calling to make a reservation.
Heather – For J’s reflux, Paed was reluctant to start on meds. First he suggested thicker formula, keeping J upright after feed for half an hour and putting her to sleep on left side. Now I think he will prescribe meds. Apparently he was reluctant as meds are addictive but Dau is sensible & would cut down asap. Re dust, etc. I knew an aged lady many years ago who blithely said she sprayed her cobwebs with Xmas glitter. And if the windows were hard to see through, she reckoned it was a foggy day and merrily went out. She also believed in using the air-con of shopping centres on hot days. She provided us with many laughs.
Hallo all:
AQ: Thanks for starting us off - I was busy sitting by the ocean looking at the unusually large surf, then home with my feet up, then yakking on the phone followed by a glass of wine and dinner - and here I am, beating to the punch! Glitter cobwebs, eh? Shades of an Adams Family Christmas. I'm assuming J's reflux is what we call cholic? Hope the meds work.
Heather: The whole state will be under water restrictions for some time; we need an entire winter of storms to be done with the drought. Los Angeles got a bona fide (small) tornado with the last storm. A resident shot a video of it, together with commentary, which had to be cut because 90% of it was along the lines of "Oh,(beep)!", "What the (beep)!?!", "Holy (beep)!" and "(beep)!" followed by more of the same.
Brenda: Five houses on the one lot ? That sounds excessive. How big is the lot? Can you and other neighbors file a complaint, go to planning meetings, etc.? Our neighbors got a petition going when someone submitted plans to put up a McMansion next door to them; many people signed it because it would've set a precedent. The city council made the architects/owners reduce the footprint and chop off the first (U.S. second) floor.
Clare: Whoever Chico is, it sounds like way too much excitement for a Saturday evening. :-)
Wendy: Good luck with the gritters.
I'm going to do some tidy up in the garden before the next storm arrives Monday (then we've got another one possibly heading our way next weekend). Hurray!
Have a good Sunday all. :-)

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
LOL Clare!! I like cheeky Chico, too, although I didn't see him on TV recently.
He was on the X Factor last night - not for long enough, sadly. Did you see him on Dancing on Ice a couple of years ago? He was really good on that as well - he made it to the last three despite being significantly older than the other two finalists.
Yes, I saw some of that programme Clare and for me he's a good all round entertainer who always makes me laugh!
Sadly they are building more and more houses nowadays which are far closer to being shoe boxes, complete with arrow slits for windows. When we were house hunting years ago the first house we viewed had a master bedroom which was so tiny you would have run yourself over if you'd turned around in there too quickly, and the only staircase was a spiral one in the front room! Absolutely horrendous.
