WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2014

Hi all, welcome to the new week.

  • Thinking of those in the path of some attrocious weather. Stay safe.

Will show my face tomorrow hopefully.

  • Hi Margo - good to hear from you...... Look forward to having a post from you tomorrow. Take care.

  • AQ - have just been reading out loud to my OH your description of life with twins and LittleMiss.  Sorry, but we had to smile!  Well done on staying the course. I'm sure I'd find it exhausting. Enjoy a quiet day at home with the HW!

  • I forgot to say that we heard about the mass grounding of the whales on Monday. Poor things.

  • Evening all: Woken up at 4 a.m. this morning by - surprise - another power outage, specifically by the chirping of our cordless phones suddenly cut off from home base.  It lasted an hour (still associated with power problems from previous day), which wasn't too bad, except we again had to do the rounds of all the electronic gizmos that needed resetting. Apart from that, went to gym, then had a good rest of the day at home doing all the things I didn't get done yesterday.

Lindybird: It's frustrating when you take a photo of something only to have it look all washed out. I bet those folks whose photos were on tele used special filters, etc. - maybe even Photoshop.   I think I muddle my responses when I go through everyone else's, then come across a second post from someone but don't go back to my original response to that person and just type merrily away at the end of whoever I last responded to - if you get my drift!  Ah, I suspect you do given that you apparently missed a page of posts. :-)

Heather: Looks like my car will be at my daughter's for a good week; status of hers still uncertain.  Your lunch with OH sounds lovely - never even heard of Bloody Mary Gel or Red Onion Marmalade. Seems like many chefs are really pushing the limits with new combinations.

Rita:  I had to Google Cranachan - it sounds yummy.  Hope the weather doesn't mess up the Friday carol singing.

Brenda: Oh my - three hours hanging about in the cold while your OH and friends played bowls - I bet they were grateful.  Sounds like you deserve a "pampering me" day too.  I think that comes under Do-it-Yourself at our house!   Re grandson, I was adding 2 and 2, so not sure what happened with girlfriend. And yes, I suspect a "new" car is in the offing for daughter, but I think she needs to find one that already has all the extras she tends to add - like dings and scratches. :-)

Lynette: Hope you don't have to wait so long for another get together with your friend. It would be interesting to get her perspective on Cape Town.

AQ: Saw the news about the whales - not nice to steal their teeth though. :-(  Oh my, Miss 18 deserves a medal; what a sweetie. But what a shame about the other g'parents; their attitude aside, you'd think they could pop over for a few days since they're too far for day trips.  Still, what do I know!

    Margo: Hi to you!

Hope I haven't missed anyone. Anyway, fingers very strongly crossed that everyone in the path of those storms stays safe.

  • Good Morning. We're a little tired here as its been a worrying couple of days. Didn't say anything, but both our grandsons have had what we thought were bad colds, however now we are told its some kind of virus. Our Youngest took little Matthew into see the doctor on Monday when he seemed to be getting no better after a weekend of not being himself. The doc said "wait & see" and yesterday he was due for his 6 weeks checkup anyway - however, although his temperature was up a little they said go home. Later, he was breathing rapidly so they had a flurry of phone calls for advice. Eventually, they took him into hospital for tests and observation. So our d.in-law has spent the night there with him & our Eldest is returning again this morning to give her a change of clothes. Matthew has had extra oxygen to help him breathe and of course they've done blood tests etc. He is a sturdy little guy so should come through this OK but of course his parents are exhausted after several bad nights.
  • Blimey, Lindy - I sincerely hope he's better soon.  I can imagine his parents are exhausted.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • LINDY - what an anxious time for you all xx Please let us know how he gets on.

  • Thinking and saying a prayer for you All, Linda, especially little Matthew.

  • Good morning all a brighter day so far. Very frosty yesterday morning but by afternoon it got very gloomy with rain. Guess who had her windows cleaned. Within an hour of him leaving down came the rain, nothing unusual really as without fail this always happens. Have been doing lots of little jobs again round the home but as chemo commenced again Monday taking things easy. Still makes me feel,a little tired and eating is a bit difficult as it does seem to upset my stomach a bit now. Fortunately I will be OK by Christmas and will be able to enjoy some Christmas treats.

Lindybird  so sorry to read abiut your grandsons illness. What a terrible worry for you all. Hope Matthew will improve and the help he is getting with his breathing will make him feel better. Please let us know how he is.

You did make me smile with the tale of the toy that seems to have a mind of its own. Hope you found out to stop,it. Lovely ditty about the woodpecker I am sure you will have np made diane smile.

Annette you seem to be having some rather troublesome days. I do hope things will improve. Shame your daughter possibly needs a new car. Your train journey sounds delightful nothing more relaxing than travelling along the coast.

diane always pleased to see you. Probably not too funny for you but woodpeckers stories gave me a smile.mhope you have managed to come to an amicable arrangngent with them whereby they do not damage your home. Hope your deep cleaning is going well but the spiders will be upset about losing their warm home.

Heather I felt so sorry for your OH when he told Amy she was doing so well with her insulin pump only  to receive a rebuff. There is no need for bad manners so hopefully she will realise that an apology would be good. Having said that perhaps the realisation of it all has got her down a bit. Your lunch sounded very tasty and you both enjoyed it.

Brenda 3 hours is a long time to wIat in the cold. I woukd think you were  pleased to get home again and warm up. At least you enjoyed seeing Christmas decorations on the what back. We both think there are less houses this year being decorated. We do have a road near where all the houses participate and the money collected is given to charity. We will go and have a look sometime soon tonsee if the whole road still participate. Well done on your Lottery win. My OH has quite a few tickets he has not checked. I keep saying we might have won a fortune but this is most unlikely we have only ever won a few £10 and that was quite a few years ago.

OG thinking of you and of couse others in the path of some truly dangerous sounding weather. Pleased that you do not have to go out today. It sounds as though you have been enjoying all your outings of late. I hope your daughter's house renovations will not suffer. Strictly result was wrong and a bit of a shock. Trouble is when we get to this stage of things they are all good dancers so it is very fo difficult to make the choice.

AQ even with extra assistance things look very hectic for you, Hopefully your daughter will be able to cope more in the near future butthe twins must be a bit if a handful at the moment.

rita sounds as though your weather is very do dangerous at the moment. Do take care while you are out driving. Your Christmas lunch sounds goog glad you enjoyed it.

Brenda you must have been frozen yesterday, bet you were pleased to get get home again and get warm. Three hours is a long time when it is so cold but very good of you to be the chauffeur.

Again will be thinking of those of you having really bad weather. Do take care.
