Dang! Started a thread but it never loaded and now it's eaten my entire post! Grrrrr. What's worse, I typed it in Word, copied and pasted it, and now can't get it to paste.
Hope we don't get two new threads.
Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone. Will catch up (again!) tomorrow.
Just popped in quickly to say Margo's news brought big smile to my face - a lovely start to my morning Margo!. Have a wonderful day and a lovely, lovely Christmas. You and your OH surely deserve it.
bjane: Great to see you too. Don't stay a stranger!
Heather: Ah, so now they laugh at us when they catch us in bed. I remember when... (but perhaps not here). :-)
Off to Trader Joe's and Costco this a.m. Have a good day all.
Good afternoon, all. Been getting on with various odds and ends today, and doing some of OH’s jobs while he was busy. Just been through various order lists for Farmers’ Market 20th December – lucky to have one so close to Christmas without having to go further from home. Thanks for all posts.
Limpy – how good to see a post from you, and those lovely Minsmere Otters – feeling envious!
Annette – that soaking rain will do so much good in the garden – maybe even enough to put something back in the reservoirs? Pleased under-cabinet light is now sorted. Trouble with buttercream and its reduced sugar is increased fat! I won’t be sampling the cider (I don’t drink alcohol at all) but OH may taste just a drop – new drink/drive law in Scotland doesn’t come into force till Friday, after which he won’t risk any, even with food. I also have wrapped as soon as buying this year (not that we give many gifts) and now parcels are also sporting their brown paper outer raps as they wait in a box. I have one box with postal items, and another to take to Dau at New Year. I even have a labelled container for incoming cards and letters, having received one by email already!
Lynette – you sound well-organised with the presents bought and the cake marzipanned.
AQ – so frustrating when companies do not come at the promised time, but pleased the air-con has been installed. I read that October was the hottest ever in SA and NSW.
Linda – we too had our first real white frost this morning – and didn’t get up above zero C until after 10 am.
Margo – rejoicing at your continuing good news! If you have treatment next week, does that make it due again the week of New Year? At least you are free of it through Christmas and your Birthday!
Oh! Heather! LoL
Bjane – good to see a post from you again – I hope your retirement slow-down is going to plan.
Will soon need to get ready for going out; glad it is local (Gretna) and won’t be too late, as I think it could be a frosty night. Will then be up early tomorrow for X-ray at Dental Centre, Rheumatology at Hospital (next door) and routine shopping, all in Dumfries.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Margo, we're so happy for you - let's hope the good news continues!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Lovely pics Limpy and so nice to see you here :-)
Thought I should 'look in" and say Hi Everyone. We haven't had any frost yet but we have had rain, which started yesterday evening and didn't stop until after lunch today. It is much colder though.
I need to catch up with your posts for the last couple of days. I have had a quick scan and did laugh at Heather, entertaining the window cleaner.
Quite a pleasant evening out: talk was interesting, OH sampled the spiced apple punch (non-alcoholic) but said there was too much clove and not enough cinnamon: I didn't even try it, smelled like cough medicine. Supper was good, but there was too much sweet and not enough savoury - I think everyone was compensating for last year when it was mostly sausage rolls and cocktail sausages!
Air con installed & working . . . except that the weather gods have given us cool days (or has Linda’s frost arrived here?). Only 22 C today & not expecting more than 28 C for the next week. I teased OH that we didn’t the A-C. I’m now trying to clean carpet. Despite drop sheets, red brick dust has collected on carpet next to skirting board and vacuuming has not been effective. I still have aching back & shoulders from carrying/cuddling 2 heavyweight babes on Tuesday. Dau was extremely tired & grumpy – not that I blame her. To add to my woes, food shopping this morn was so frantic I wondered if the dreaded C-day was tomorrow instead of 3 weeks away. I posted overseas & interstate Xmas mail a few days ago, leaving the local ones, some of which will be phone calls. I’m not in the mood for peace & joy & all that just now.
Evening all:
Clare: Good to see you.
OG: I'll take buttercream over sugar any day. Goodness, you're very organized - I'm not mailing any packages this year. Was this a potluck dinner where everyone brings a dish? Sounds like it could do with a bit of coordination. :-)
AQ: I'm sure you'll get lots of hot days to enjoy your new a/c unit. Will it cool a larger area than the previous one? Does Dau have any idea when she'll hear if her request for more nanny hours will be answered? Sounds like a good year to have a really low-key Christmas; do any of your supermarkets do Turkey-and-Trimmings To Go? Please take care of yourself.
We had some heavy showers this morning, but looks like this storm has run its course. Fingers crossed we get another one or two or.....soon!
Have a good Thursday everyone.
