Dang! Started a thread but it never loaded and now it's eaten my entire post! Grrrrr. What's worse, I typed it in Word, copied and pasted it, and now can't get it to paste.
Hope we don't get two new threads.
Anyway, have a nice Sunday everyone. Will catch up (again!) tomorrow.
Good morning – blue sky so far, but we didn’t get actual frost, although cooler than of late. It was three degrees cooler inland yesterday when we went to the dentist – only about twelve miles, but it makes a difference.
Heather – amazing that your OH was okay about the extra taxi fare to collect your glasses! My glasses case lives in the key bowl on the hall table, so it reminds me to check where the actual glasses are when we go out.
Linda – always good when the little ones understand what a birthday means; just not so good for us more “mature” folk when we know we are another year older! Enjoy the new PC when it comes!
Annette – how do you get icing that is “not sweet”? I know American frosting is different from our icing, but I thought it is still made from sugar. Full mouth x-rays before were totally non-invasive – ie no holding metal in my mouth – I hope the procedure hasn’t changed! I remember all your problem with the under-cabinet light previously; I hope the electrician manages it okay. OH moved one of ours recently, as we did a bit of a shuffle around the microwave where we have the coffee tray; it seemed to go quite smoothly.
J has been asked to work Wednesday this week, and seems pleased to say he will because he wants to buy a new leather guitar strap to replace one which got damaged when someone else told a child they could “borrow” his guitar at camp in the summer – better the strap than the guitar, I suppose!
Now need coffee before hosing down to go out.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hope the X rays go OK, OG. I often seem to need one of those little ones: my mouth is full of fillings and the dentist is not always sure what's going on inside my teeth!!
Here are some funny pics to cheer everyone: First, a bear who is deciding just where to hang his picture on the wall......
And a penguin giving away a secret, pointing the way to Santa's Grotto....

Good morning all was going to show my face yesterday but never got round to it. Seemed to spend the day faffing around doing various jobs and made my self feel quite tired bt the evening. It is still a treat to be able to do more in the bungalow. I very rarely look in at weekends as I like to spend time with my OH as I see very little of him during the week. He leaves for work at 7.30, gets back home about 6.15 and goes back to the local office they now have and works on. Good news that the fitm has acquired another practice but it has given them a lot more clients to deal with. Should be a little less manic by the end of January hopefully.
Much cooler yesterday and again today and extremely dull. Started to get dark at 3.00 yesterday and will probably be the same today. Hate having lights on all the time. Hard to believe but I still have roses blooming and noticed the daffodils are sprouting up. Perhaps this cooler weather will hold things back a bit.
Had a very nice birthday lunch with OH on Friday. Went to restaueorant we had never been to before and were extremely impressed. Satirday was the day we met our friends from London. They came down for the day and we went to a pub which has very good reviews. We all enjoyed our lunches and talked and laughed a lot. We originally met them in Italy when we all stayed at the same hotel and have been friends ever since. They go every year as we used to do so had a lot of photos to look at and enjoy. Very old building dated back to 1650 and has been a pub since 1850. A very nice atmosphere and people that run it are very welcoming. Will certainly go there again.
Had a blood test yesterday and consultant visit tomorrow when I will get the results. Always a little apprehensive but I still feel pretty good so assuming that all levels are OK. Chemo will recommence next Monday.
Annette the rain you are having must be very welcome although I suspect a lot more is needed especially for the farmers. How nice it will be for you to spend Christmas together with your family. Various scams now seem to be a way of life unfortunately. Our local paper report almost weekly on elderly people especially being taken in by these unscrupulous individuals. A lot of them also being charged for having work done on the house or in the garden when it is not required.
Lindybird sounds as though you had an extremely happy day with your family. Hopefully Amber will get used to having people round her. Must be a bit daunting for her at the moment. It was worthwhile going back for the sausage rolls as they all got eaten So they must have been good. Look forward to seeing some photos of the event. Thanks for the pics of the bear anfdd the Penguins, very cute.
OG it seems as though you have barely had time to draw breath over the past few days. No wonder you felt a bit spent. Seems as though you enjoyed everything you did. Hope the dental X-ray do not reveal anything too serious. Good to read that there is at last some work being carried out on your daughter's house. How long will it be before they are able to live there again.
Heather so sorry to read that Amy is still having problems. So stressful for your daughter and of course you. A bit worrying that that there is only support in a dire emergency. Hope that thIngs will improve soon especially as Christmas is drawing ever closer. Hope you get to meet up with your old work colleague soon, you will obviously have a lot to talk about.
diane thanks for the pic of the Poitou donkey, he must need a lot of groomimg. They have a few Poitou donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon. I was very surprised to see how much bigger they are.
Brenda sorry to read about Penny hope the increased steroid dose will get her back to normal quickly. Smiled at the comment that you have Penny's present but as yet nothing for your son, You must be delighted that you will spend Christmas with your family. You must have been exhausted after the hedge trimming, hooe it didn't affect your bowls too much.
dibnlib I woukd say 10 minutes late is nothing considering the miles you travelled. Some lorry drivers are downright dangerous overtaking. Unfirunately we get a lots of lorries making their way to and coming from the docks at Poole who quite often use roads which are not suitable for their size. Quite a worry when driving down some of the lanes we have.
Take care all and have a good day.
Hello All - Lovely sunny day here but very hard frost at first. I was going shopping in Inverness today but have been chatting on the phone to my son for so long that I think it is too late now, I will have to go tomorrow! I am beginning to get my usual panicky feeling about not getting every thing done in time for Christmas, I really must get on with it all. We had a very enjoyable A.G.M. at my cactus club on Saturday with a nice little Mesembyanthumum show, lots of different varieties on show. Sunday was a beautiful sunny day and I went for a long walk along the beach with Amber, she must have played with about twenty different dogs en route and I had four doggy chats with different families, it is amazing how you get talking to people if you have a dog with you.
Have been reading all the news, Lindybird- so glad that you had a lovely day with the family, hope we will see some photos soon.
Margo - Nice to hear that you enjoyed your meals out with OH and friends, I used to visit the New Forest area a lot when the children were young as my parents-in-law lived there.
Annette- Hope you are still getting all the rain you need and that the plants are enjoying it!
Heather- So sorry that Amy and Daughter have had a difficult time, hope it sorts out soon so that they can enjoy Christmas.
Dibnlib- I feel Amber is deprived, as she has not got a Advent Calendar! I did not know you could get one or did you make it?
Have had a very mixed day - some things have driven me crazy, other things have gone well!! That's Life!! See that I can now see all the Friends on my Friends List again, so some things on here have indeed improved....
RITA pets at hme sell them. They have dog simple dog treats behind the pics and our dogs have always cottoned on to this pretty quickly and sit expectantly in front of the calendar.
LINDY love the smiles, thank you.
I was asked if I wanted extra hours this week as bosses wife had tiwins yesterday (one of each). I said no unless no one else could do them. Relieved to find that someone else was happy to oblige.
