WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey topics) SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2014

Morning all: Check back the last page of the previous week to catch up with bits and bobs of news.

We put our clocks back tonight - and I also pulled out the space heater as  my feet are cold and I haven't dug out my toasty slippers yet.  We had more lovely showers today, but it's supposed to warm up later this week for a few days. We're in this in-between stage when it's quite warm during the day but decidedly cooler at night.

OG; Thanks for letting us know Diane is expecting snow; I hope it's not too severe.  My NY friends are dreading a repeat of last winter, when the temps dropped sharply early in the winter and stayed there all winter.

Take care all.

  • Heather, I trust all is well with Amy this evening. Do have a wonderful holiday. X

  • Linda, How disappointing for you both. I have seen a few trailers and interviews about " Turner". I do intend going to see it.

  • Good news Heather

Dau’s doc recommended nanny help originally but it also has to be approved by dragons, er sorry, social workers. Criteria have changed (in just a few months?). As we have long summer holidays coming up, I shall suggest senior school or uni student help. But kids these days don’t want to do anything for a pittance + experience any more. Besides as a friend mentioned, Occ Health & Safety regulations could be a problem. We’ll survive, tho this aged g-m will be feeling more aged!!!

Coffee-Friend & I are meeting Mon pm for coffee, postponed from today as we are expecting another scorcher of 39 C with “catastrophic” fire conditions in some places. Schools closed today on West Coast (Eyre Peninsula). I suggested Cocolat for coffee, etc, having browsed their website at Henley Beach (next suburb). Don’t click HERE if you are on a diet!!!

If you are looking for the skink I mentioned in last trip saga, I posted the pic on flickr today . . . and Torndirrup Nat Pk tomorrow.

  • Thanks for continuing news.

On the Look East programme tonight was a story about a gamekeeper who had killed 10 buzzards deliberately.  The RSPB brought the case against him but all he was given was a suspended sentence - personally he should have had at least a custodial sentence of some sort.

  • AQ: Any schools/colleges nearby where a student doing child-development courses might be available as nanny for school credits? Just a thought....

Lynette: Wonder what the rationale was for the suspended sentence....

Lindybird: Good luck with the movie next week.

  • Good Morning All. Rain pouring down here, & I have to go out on errands :-( Lynette - I saw the item about the buzzard killing gamekeeper on the news. Its because they hand out these pathetic sentences that these things still happen. My blood boiled when I saw it. AQ - I've just eaten my breakfast porridge whilst looking at your Cocolat link.......aaaaah!!!
  • Goodness, where is everyone?! Not sunbathing in UK, for sure! I went to next town and it has been wet, wet, wet! Trudged through the puddles and crammed into the shops with all the other damp souls. Came back with a present for Tomasz for his forthcoming birthday, and some ink for my printer, amongst other things. Hope everyone else is keeping dry!! By the way, the shops are now busy gearing up for Christmas already......
  • Morning LINDYBIRD: No idea where they all went. Oh, except HEATHER is off on holiday.  I've just got myself up and now about to pay some bills and make a to-do list.

  • LINDY   yes, the shops are certainly gearing up for Christmas. I work in "Rohan" and we do not concentrate on Christmas, but the winters season window was put in place on Wed and will remain for the next few weeks. OH and I were out and about today(trying to find something suitable for a Christmas gift for Mum) and everywhere we went there were Christmas trees and lights.

  • It's so sad that Christmas decorations are up so early... Negates any joy in the season and as I said to my hairdresser yesterday who on earth is going to dust them!!
